He added: "In fact, our preparation has been going on since March 1. Since then, I have worked with about 70 players and have had many tournaments together. The preparation process lasted 6 months.

Saying that U23 Vietnam will only gather for a week is not correct. The players and I have been working together for 5 years now, when they were 17, 18, and 19 years old. They have absorbed everything I have taught them. This is the journey towards the U23 Asian Cup finals and the 2024 Olympics. They will compete for the National Team when they gather for the FIFA Days in October."

The French coach affirmed that U23 Vietnam trained in Hanoi but played in Phu Tho without any impact because the travel time only took about 1 hour.

"In September, both teams will gather, so I decided to set up headquarters in Hanoi so that the players can gather at the Vietnam Youth Football Center. The players can practice in a familiar atmosphere. I don't have to worry about traffic because VFF always has the best preparation."

Evaluating the upcoming tournament, the French captain said: "Results are only shown on the field. The more players play, the more they accumulate. The coaching staff makes adjustments when monitoring training sessions.

The players all understand when entering the tournament, and each tournament has a different nature. Playing against each team is different, so the players' preparation must be appropriate. We have the No. 1 position in Southeast Asia, but when coming here to work, I push the players to surpass their limits, reaching far beyond the continent and the world."

Meanwhile, coach Dominic Gadia of U23 Guam - the opponent in the opening match of U23 Vietnam, said: "This is the first time we have participated in the tournament so we focus on creating a foundation. I do not care about the result, but care about the harvest after the match and look to the future.

I researched U23 Vietnam. They are a team that is well prepared and has performed well in the regional arena. Based on what I analyzed, we have players returning from the US. This is the first time I have worked with them and I will give them a chance to show their ability."

According to the schedule, U23 Vietnam will play its opening match against U23 Guam at 7:00 p.m. on September 6 at Viet Tri Stadium, Phu Tho./.
