(Baonghean.vn) - After buying 4 packages of pink pills, Thanh hid them in the hem of her underwear and delivered them to customers. However, this young woman's actions did not escape the police.

On September 8, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened the first instance trial of defendant Ha Thi Thanh (36 years old), residing in Hong Loc commune, Loc Ha district (Ha Tinh) for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".

According to the case file, Thanh met a woman named Vinh (from Dien Chau district) while working for hire in the South in 2015.

In early 2023, while talking via text message, Thanh told Vinh that his maternal hometown in Que Phong district had many drug dealers. Hearing Thanh's suggestion, Vinh immediately ordered drugs.

On the evening of March 22, 2023, Thanh was in Ha Tinh when he received a phone call from Vinh ordering 4 packages of pink phien (priced at 20 million VND), promising to pay 10 million VND in advance and set a time and place to receive the "goods".

The next morning, Thanh took a bus to Que Phong district to buy drugs from a Laotian. Following this person's instructions, Ha Thi Thanh went to the cemetery area in Muong Noc commune, Que Phong district to receive 4 packages of pink drugs (nearly 80 grams).

Thanh hid the drugs in the hem of her underwear and then got on a bus to go downstream. When she reached the Loi bridge area (in Dien Hong commune, Dien Chau district), Thanh got off the bus and waited for customers to come and get the drugs, but was caught red-handed by the police.

At the trial, the defendant confessed and admitted to the crime. Defendant Thanh said that because he had many children and was under financial pressure, he agreed to buy drugs to sell to customers. Regarding the customer who ordered the drugs and the seller, the defendant said he did not know their background.

Thanh cried many times, asking the court to consider reducing his sentence so he could return to his children and show filial piety to his parents.

The panel of judges determined that the defendant's actions violated the law and should be severely punished. Considering the case as a whole, the court sentenced Ha Thi Thanh to 16 years in prison for "Illegal drug trafficking".
