(Baonghean.vn) - Throughout the entire time she sat in her son's trial, the 48-year-old mother kept holding an old handkerchief to wipe her tears. Her pain was too great when her own child committed murder, while the victim was none other than her own sister.

I slashed my aunt in the night

Although only 48 years old, the hardships and hardships have made Mrs. Nguyen Thi L., resident of Nghia Dung commune, Tan Ky district, look much older than her age. With a thin, small figure and dark skin, she sat quietly at her son's trial. Her son is Dang Quang Hau (born 2000) - the defendant in the case.Killingjust been brought to trial by Nghe An Provincial People's Court.

How could it not be hard when for many years, she had been single-handedly taking care of the family and children. She and her husband had 3 children, but due to difficult circumstances, when the youngest child was about 3 years old, they had to let an acquaintance adopt and take care of him. Her husband was not very agile, and after a while living together, he also left to return to his hometown. Since then, Mrs. L. has raised the children alone, including Hau.

But according to his family, because he was not as smart as his friends and learned slowly, Hau dropped out of school after 3rd grade. After that, his family sent him to an integration class. When he grew up, Hau worked for a while everywhere but could not send any money back to his mother. When he returned to his hometown, Hau worked for hire but only earned enough to support himself.

The land was small, so when her children grew up, Mrs. L. went to Hanoi to work as a maid. The salary was not much, but she calculated that compared to farming in the countryside, she would still have some income and some money to spare when she was sick. Her mother and brother worked far away, so Hau lived alone in a house in the countryside.

One day at the end of October 2022, Mrs. L. was shocked when she heard the news from her hometown that her second son had caused a terrible accident. She quickly asked her landlord for permission to quit her job and then hurriedly took a bus back to her hometown.

Regarding the case in which Hau was the perpetrator, according to the indictment, at 11:20 p.m. on October 31, 2022, after attending a wedding party in the neighborhood, Hau returned home to sleep and heard his aunt, Ms. Pham Thi S. (born in 1968, severely disabled), screaming. When Hau went to check, he saw his aunt lying in a banana bush in a drunken state.

Seeing that, Hau sat on top of Mrs. S. and took off her pants, but the aunt resisted, so he covered her mouth and carried her to his bed. Seeing Mrs. S. continue to scream, Hau strangled her and chased her away, but the aunt was still lying on the bed screaming. Angry because it was late at night but the aunt was screaming loudly, Hau took a pipe and hit Mrs. S. twice on the head.

Then, Hau dragged his aunt out to the yard, took a knife and slashed the victim 3 times in the chin, neck, and right hand. Feeling the pain, Mrs. S. screamed for help, so Hau grabbed 2 dashboard bricks and a knife to threaten her. At this time, Mrs. S. stood up and went home, threatening to tell her relatives that Hau had beaten her. When she got home, Mrs. S. was still screaming nonstop, so Hau ran over and slashed her chin and neck repeatedly, kicked her aunt until she passed out, then went home to sleep.

Early the next morning, neighbors and relatives found Mrs. S. lying motionless in the yard, covered in blood, so they took her to the hospital for emergency treatment. When questioned by everyone, Hau admitted to slashing Mrs. S. and said he was ready to go to jail. That same day, Hau turned himself in to the police, admitting to his crime.

In response to questions from the jury, the defendant admitted to using multiple weapons to hit the victim. When questioned about the motive for the crime, the defendant stated that the victim kept screaming, disturbing everyone's sleep; the defendant had been drinking, so he could not control his actions and could not remember the details of the incident.

Mother's Tears

While listening to her son’s testimony, Mrs. L. repeatedly wiped her tears with a handkerchief, then bowed her head in her chair. When the court invited her to come up to ask some related questions, she hurriedly went up. Her emotions and sadness caused her answers to be constantly interrupted.

The defendant’s mother confirmed that the victim was her half-sister. After being beaten by Hau with a knife and a pipe, the victim is now bedridden. For nearly a year, she has been the one taking care of the victim and providing her with medicine.

“She is paralyzed and cannot move her arms and legs, so I am currently the one who takes care of her every day. I also pay for her because her family is in difficult circumstances,” Ms. L. told the court.

It is known that the victim is in a very difficult situation. She herself is severely disabled and has a child who is also disabled. Her husband has passed away, and the house where the mother and child are currently living is a charity house.

“Because the two houses are close together, since the incident happened, I often run back and forth between the two houses to take care of her and her daughter. I know that Hau has to pay for what he did, but I hope the court will consider reducing his sentence,” the defendant’s mother told the court.

The legal representative of the victim attended the court and asked for a reduced sentence for Hau. At the same time, he confirmed that during the investigation, Hau's family had compensated 30 million VND to pay for medicine and treatment costs... Therefore, the legal representative of the victim hoped the court would consider reducing the sentence for the defendant and not request more on the civil part.

The panel of judges determined that although the defendant had many mitigating circumstances in this case, such as: surrendering, confessing honestly, showing remorse and repentance, and having the victim’s legal representative request a reduction in sentence, the defendant also had two aggravating circumstances: intentionally committing the crime to the end and committing the crime against a disabled person. Therefore, the court sentenced Dang Quang Hau to 15 years in prison for the crime of “Murder”.

Her son was sentenced to prison and had to follow the officers to the detention camp to await the day of execution. The mother walked home alone, slowly and slowly. Beneath her feet, a shadow swayed and swayed...
