The initial cause of the fire, according to family members, was that on the afternoon of September 16, Ms. Xong Y Chu went to collect burned sawdust from a carpentry household in the village to use as fertilizer. Thinking that the sawdust had gone out, Ms. Chu scooped it into a bag and put it in the kitchen. But then the sawdust smoldered again and eventually burned down the entire kitchen and two main rooms of the house.
Fortunately, the fire did not cause any casualties, but more than 40 million VND in cash that the family had saved was burned. The house and the burned items were worth about 100 million VND. This house was part of a residential planning project invested in by the Economic and Military Zone 4 in 2007.

As soon as the incident was discovered, the authorities and local people actively worked together to put out the fire, but the fire was so large that it burned down almost the entire house and property.
