Two robbers charged for forcing victim to... cook noodles to eat
The Investigation Police Agency has initiated a case, prosecuted the accused and issued an arrest warrant for Le Chi Ben and Tran Loc Ngan to investigate the act of "Robbery".
According to the investigation, Le Chi Ben (born in 1993) and Tran Loc Ngan (born in 2001, both residing in Vam Dam hamlet, Nguyen Huan commune, Dam Doi district) took advantage of the late night to drive their boats close to barges and boats carrying construction materials moored on the river to steal property.
If the vehicle owner discovers them, they use knives to control them, rob them of money, gold, and phones. While robbing, both of them cover their faces, act recklessly and aggressively, making the victims terrified and afraid to call out. Most of the victims are people from other provinces who come to deliver the goods, some of them are afraid and do not report to the police.
Recently, Ben and Ngan went to businesses to sell stolen property, so detectives approached them and invited them to the headquarters to fight. Faced with the evidence presented by the investigation agency, Ben and Ngan admitted to being the perpetrators of many recent robberies on the river.
Accordingly, from August 2023 to present, the two subjects have committed many robberies on rivers in the districts of Dam Doi, Cai Nuoc and Nam Can (Ca Mau province). During further investigation, they also confessed to committing a robbery and rape in Bac Lieu province.
Previously, at 2:00 a.m. on September 7, the sand and stone boat of Mr. HTD and his wife (born in 1970, residing in Dam Doi district, Ca Mau province) was anchored on the Ganh Hao river to rest when they suddenly heard a strange noise. Mr. D and his wife woke up to check and saw two masked men standing on a boat moored next to the sand boat.
Mr. D asked “what happened?” and the two subjects replied, “The engine ran out of oil so we stopped by to ask for oil.” Thinking it was real, Mr. D went to the back to find tools to get oil for them. Immediately, the two subjects climbed onto the boat, used machetes to control Mr. D and his wife, and robbed many valuable assets. Not stopping there, the two robbers forced the victims to cook instant noodles for them to eat.
Similarly, Mr. MAT (born in 1971, residing in An Giang province) drove a barge transporting cement from Can Tho city to Dam Doi district to deliver to construction material stores. On the evening of September 4, it was raining so Mr. T anchored the vehicle at Sau Dong canal (Tan Duc commune, Dam Doi district). At around 11pm the same day, two men on the barge stopped by, pretending to ask for cigarettes, then used machetes to control Mr. T and his wife, robbing many valuable assets...
