Launching wildlife protection education program in Pu Mat
(Baonghean.vn) - The program will be implemented in 16 schools in the buffer zone of Pu Mat National Park, spanning three districts: Anh Son, Con Cuong and Tuong Duong.
On September 22, Save Vietnam's Wildlife (SVW) in collaboration with Pu Mat National Park, the Department of Education and Training of Con Cuong, Anh Son, and Tuong Duong districts organized a workshop to launch the Nature and Wildlife Conservation Education Program of Pu Mat National Park, phase 2023 - 2025.
This is an expanded program, following the success of the Education Program to raise awareness of nature and wildlife conservation in Pu Mat National Park, phase 2021-2022.

This phase has 7 components implemented throughout the two school years 2023 - 2024 and 2024 - 2025, including: Surveying school facilities; Building a core group to protect Pu Mat forest including forest rangers, SVW forest protection officers, teachers; Pu Mat pride conservation event; "Protecting Pu Mat forest with me" club; Implementing projects to raise awareness of students and the community by the core group to protect Pu Mat forest; Building a nature experience education program; Experiencing nature. The program will be implemented in 16 schools in the buffer zone of Pu Mat National Park, spanning all three districts: Anh Son, Con Cuong and Tuong Duong.

Mr. Le Thanh An - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Con Cuong district said that in the previous period, more than 100 teachers in the district participated in promoting education to raise awareness and give experience opportunities to more than 6,000 students of 20 schools, so that they soon realize the importance of forests and wildlife to the life of the community. At the same time, encourage them, together with teachers, to become the core force in protecting the natural resources of Pu Mat National Park, protecting their own livelihoods. They have proven their youthfulness through propaganda to more than 5,000 households.

At the workshop, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Lan - Deputy Director of the Center for Wildlife Conservation in Vietnam said that in the strategy and action plan throughout, the unit was honored to have the trust and coordination with the National Parks. "The coordination of the parties is extremely valuable to contribute more to the landscape of our own, of wildlife. We hope that in the near future, the units will together create more achievements and will have more companionship from many parties to support the conservation work", Ms. Lan said.
Mr. Nguyen Dien Quang - Deputy Head of Pu Mat National Park said that in order to overcome the difficulties in conservation work, the Park Management Board has closely coordinated with other units to make joint efforts, creating many positive impacts to protect nature and wildlife in Pu Mat National Park. "We identify education to raise awareness of the buffer zone community, especially students and future generations, as an important and long-term activity to protect Pu Mat forest and protect our own livelihoods in a sustainable way. The Pu Mat National Park Management Board is even more delighted that the Program continues to be implemented and expanded to all three buffer zone districts of Anh Son, Con Cuong, and Tuong Duong," said Mr. Quang.
