Russia accuses NATO of causing conflict worse than World War II
(Baonghean.vn)- The West is pushing the world closer to a global conflict not seen since World War II, by supplying ever heavier weapons to Ukraine and praising Nazism, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev warned in a post on Telegram.
Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, reacted to the news of the arrival of US-made M1 Abrams battle tanks in Ukraine and the scandal that saw the Canadian parliament, along with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, give a standing ovation to a former member of the Nazi-linked Waffen SS. The former Russian president criticized the scandal, which has caused outrage in Poland, Russia and the Jewish community, calling it “fraternization… with the Nazis.” “It seems that Russia has no choice but to go into direct conflict with NATO,” he argued, noting reports that Washington has promised to supply Kiev with longer-range Army Combat Missile Systems (ATACMS).

Mr Medvedev said NATO had “become an openly fascist bloc similar to Hitler’s Axis, even larger”, and insisted that Russia was still ready to confront it if necessary. He warned that such a conflict would have dire consequences for humanity. “The result would be much heavier losses for humanity than in 1945,” he warned. The former president took a hard line on Russia’s relations with the West amid the ongoing conflict between Moscow and Kiev. In September, he proposed suspending diplomatic ties with the EU after the bloc backed a ban on Russian citizens bringing private cars and smartphones into member states, citing possible sanctions violations.
He has previously criticized Western countries supporting Kiev as a “pro-Nazi” alliance and repeatedly warned of the possibility of a direct confrontation between Russia and NATO. Moscow has also repeatedly warned that the West’s continued supply of weapons to Ukraine would lead to deeper involvement of NATO members in the ongoing conflict and risk a full-scale war between Russia and the US-led military bloc./.
