(Baonghean.vn) - At the conference, 14 collectives and 14 individuals received Certificates of Merit and Certificates of Merit for their outstanding achievements in building and replicating the model of "Peaceful parishes and parishes, free of crime and social evils, united in building new rural areas".

On the morning of September 28, in Tan Son commune (Do Luong), the Department of Building the Movement to Protect National Security, the Ministry of Public Security coordinated with Nghe An Provincial Police to organize a conference to review the work of building and replicating the model of "Peaceful parishes and parishes, free of crime and social evils, united to join hands to build new rural areas" in Nghe An province for the period 2021-2023.

Attending the conference were comrades: Colonel Nguyen Thanh Binh - Deputy Director of the Department of Building the Homeland Security Movement, Ministry of Public Security; Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Colonel Tran Ngoc Tuan - Deputy Director of the Provincial Police; representatives of the leadership of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee, the Provincial Religious Committee, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Provincial New Rural Area Coordination Office; representatives of the leadership of the People's Committee and the Police of 21 districts, cities and towns in the province.

Nghe An is a province with two main religious organizations: Catholicism and Buddhism. Catholicism has more than 295,000 followers; 3 bishops, 208 priests, 447 parish churches and parishes in 211/460 communes, wards and towns, in 17/21 districts, cities and towns. Buddhism has about 169,000 followers and Buddhists; 65 establishments have been approved for restoration and establishment, of which 39 establishments have abbots; 109 monks and nuns operate legally.

In recent times, closely following the leadership and direction of the Ministry of Public Security and the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Police have directed the Public Security of units and localities to synchronously, resolutely and effectively deploy tasks and solutions to protect national security, ensure social order and safety and build the movement "All people protect national security". Therefore, national security, social order and safety in the province continue to be maintained stably and increasingly peaceful.

The work of advising, organizing, implementing, maintaining, and replicating the activities of security and order assurance models in the religious areas to serve the task of ensuring security and order in general, and in new rural construction in particular, is implemented by units and localities in a methodical, flexible, creative manner, in accordance with the practical situation in the localities.

From year2016 - 6/2023, Catholics in the province donated 124,093m2land, dismantled 84,308m of surrounding walls, contributed 71,263 working days and 307.9 billion VND, built 46.3 km of concrete roads, contributed to bringing 7 district-level units, 309 communes to new rural standards, 53 communes to advanced new rural standards, 6 communes to model new rural standards, of which 252 communes with a large Catholic population were recognized as new rural standards; 273/501 Catholic hamlets met cultural standards; participated in contributing to the construction and renovation of many martyr cemeteries, supported the construction and renovation of hundreds of gratitude houses, great solidarity houses, supported the prevention and fight against Covid-19 with an amount of over 2.6 billion VND.

From 2021 to 2023, the police force coordinated with departments, branches, and levels to mobilize parishioners to hang the national flag. 21/118 parishes, 69/332 chapels, and more than 200 roads leading to parish churches and chapels have hung the national flag.

Many typical and advanced collectives and individuals have emerged to build a model to ensure security and order in the construction of new rural areas, such as: Catholics in Hung Yen Nam commune, Hung Nguyen district contributed nearly 200 million VND to build a national flag road, with more than 8 km passing through parishes and chapels in the area; non-Catholics and Catholics in Minh Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district together supported more than 400 million VND and more than 300 working days to build a family church; Catholics in Van Thuy parish, Quynh Hung commune, Quynh Luu district contributed to building a "Great Unity" flag road combined with a night lighting system more than 700m long with a cost of more than 90 million VND...

From 2018 to now, the Provincial Police have advised the Provincial People's Committee to propose and the Ministry of Public Security has removed 267 communes in the province from the list of key communes with complex security and order. This is one of the important results contributing to the completion of security and order criteria in building communes and district-level units to meet new rural standards in the whole province in recent times.

From the effectiveness of the model "Peaceful parishes and churches, no crime, joining hands in solidarity, building new countryside", the police force at all levels has advised authorities at all levels to direct the construction and replication of the model in many localities, with many different names.

At the conference, delegates presented papers highlighting good results and experiences in replicating the model of "Peaceful parishes and parishes, free of crime and social evils, united in building new rural areas".

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Colonel Nguyen Thanh Binh - Deputy Director of the Department of Building the Movement to Protect National Security, Ministry of Public Security highly appreciated the achievements of Nghe An province in building "Peaceful parishes and churches, free of crime and social evils, united in building new rural areas". Emphasizing that listening and grasping information from the masses is a very important factor to protect security and order in the area.

On this occasion, the provincial leaders and the Department of Building the Movement to Protect National Security, Ministry of Public Security, suggested a number of issues so that the model of "Peaceful parishes and religious groups, free of crime and social evils, united in building new rural areas" in Nghe An province can continue to be more effective.

The Director of the Department of Building the Movement to Protect National Security awarded Certificates of Merit to 5 groups and 5 individuals; the Director of the Provincial Police awarded Certificates of Merit to 7 groups and 7 individuals.
