Nghe An Education Department awarded nearly 400 million VND to support students and teachers in the flooded area of Quy Chau
(Baonghean.vn) - During the recent flood, the total damage caused by floods at schools in Quy Chau district was more than 22 billion VND.
On the morning of September 29, the Department of Education and Training coordinated with the Education Trade Union, the Provincial Association for Promotion of Education and the School Equipment and Books Joint Stock Company to visit and support schools and students in Quy Chau district.

Here, the delegation presented nearly 300 gifts to all students and teachers affected by floods at the High School.Quy ChauIn addition, the delegation also presented nearly 1,000 sets of textbooks to students at damaged schools including kindergartens, primary schools, high schools in Chau Hanh and Chau Tien communes and Quy Chau High School.
In addition, the delegation also presented 50 million VND to the Department of Education and Training of Quy Chau district, Chau Thang Kindergarten, along with 50 boxes of instant noodles and clothes for students. The total amount of money presented this time was nearly 400 million VND, mobilized by the Department, the Industry Union from sponsors, grassroots unions, the Provincial Association for Promotion of Education, and the Joint Stock Company for Books and School Equipment.

Arriving directly at Quy Chau High School, the students' dormitory and Chau Thang Primary School, on behalf of the delegation, the Director of the Department of Education and Training shared the difficulties with the schools, teachers and students affected by the floods. At the same time, he shared with the schools, relevant departments and teachers who overcame the difficulties, promptly helped the students who lost their property in the floods, helping them stabilize their psychology to return to school soon.



Faced with the difficulties that the Quy Chau education sector is facing, the Department of Education and Training will try to mobilize the entire sector, philanthropists, and sponsors to call for help. In the immediate future, the gift that the Department sent today is expected to help schools and students ease their hardships in time.

Previously, according to statistics from the Department of Education and Training, during the recent flood, 117 schools in the province were flooded.
Of which, in Quy Chau district alone, 7 schools were deeply submerged in water, causing severe damage; some classrooms and functional buildings had collapsed ceilings and roofs blown off; 1,055 meters of fences collapsed; 189 cabinets containing equipment and supplies and 351 sets of equipment were irreparably damaged; 2,380 sets of student and teacher desks and chairs were submerged in water; 2,563 sets of textbooks and learning materials were damaged; 106 sets of computers and other assets such as televisions, refrigerators, water pumps, electrical systems and electric fans... were submerged; 2 garages and trees and ornamental plants collapsed. The estimated damage to assets and school equipment in Quy Chau is 22 billion VND.

In addition, due to the rapid rise in water, 287 boarding students of Quy Chau High School only had time to escape, all their belongings, books, clothes, school supplies, and personal belongings were submerged in water and swept away.
