Russian Su-35S fighter shoots down Ukrainian plane in air battle
A Russian Aerospace Forces Su-35S fighter jet destroyed a Ukrainian plane in air combat, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Saturday.
During the combat mission, the crew of the Su-35S multirole fighter patrolled the area, providing cover for bombers and attack aircraft as well as helicopters.
“During the flight, the pilots of the Russian Aerospace Forces promptly detected and destroyed an enemy aircraft,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.

The Russian Defense Ministry also released a video of the Su-35S' combat sortie, which shows a missile being launched from the aircraft.
Military campaign in Donbass
Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24. President Putin called its goal "to protect those who have been subjected to repression and genocide by the Kiev regime for the past eight years." He noted that the special military operation was a forced measure, Russia "has no other options, the security risk has been created to such an extent that it is impossible to respond with other measures."
According to him, Russia has been trying for 30 years to come to terms with NATO on security principles in Europe, but in response it has been met either with cruel deception and lies, or with pressure and blackmail, while the alliance, despite Moscow's objections, has gradually expanded and approached the borders of the Russian Federation.
