Spreading the movement to build a cultural environment in press agencies
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of October 5, the Vietnam Journalists Association held a conference to review one year of the emulation movement to build a cultural environment in press agencies and guide the implementation of the Vietnam Journalists Association's Charter; and summarize the management of members who are reporters of press agencies residing in localities.
Comrades: Nguyen Duc Loi - Permanent Vice President of Vietnam Journalists Association; Vu Thi Ha - Head of Association Affairs Department, Vietnam Journalists Association; Tran Minh Ngoc - Director of Nghe An Radio and Television Station, President of Nghe An Provincial Journalists Association co-chaired the conference.
Attending the conference were comrades: Tran Trong Dung - Vice President of Vietnam Journalists Association; Tong Van Thanh - Director of Press and Publishing Department, Central Propaganda Department; Dang Thi Phuong Thao - Deputy Director of Press and Publishing Department, Ministry of Information and Communications; and delegates from provinces and cities in the Central and Central Highlands regions.
Building a cultural environment in press agencies
On June 21, 2022, the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Vietnam Journalists Association and Nhan Dan Newspaper jointly launched the emulation movement "Building a cultural environment in press agencies", announcing a set of 12 basic criteria on building cultural press agencies and the culture of Vietnamese journalists.
After 1 year of implementing the emulation movement, many press agencies and all levels of the Association have had positive changes in both awareness and action. Many press agencies have identified prominent and urgent issues to focus on solving such as: discipline, work discipline, professional ethics, and promptly rectifying inappropriate statements on social networks by a few journalists.
In general, press agencies highly agree with the 12 criteria of cultural press agencies and culture of journalists, thereby implementing many programs to foster professional skills and political mettle of journalists in the digital transformation environment, journalism in the era of technology 4.0.
At the conference, representatives of the Journalists Associations of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Lam Dong, Phu Yen, Dak Nong provinces... shared practical experiences in building a cultural environment in press agencies, including building strict internal regulations, organizing professional operating procedures, closely managing operational activities and behavior of journalists, preventing risks of violating professional ethics...
Comrade Tong Van Thanh - Head of the Press and Publishing Department, Central Propaganda Department, said that the movement to build a cultural environment in press agencies is very practical in the current context. He also believes that in the coming time, the movement will continue to be effective, thereby enhancing the cultural value in press products.
After listening to the discussion opinions, comrade Nguyen Duc Loi - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association affirmed that although the movement has only been launched for more than 1 year, it has been responded to by localities, spread strongly, and entered the essence of journalistic life.
Strengthening the management of members who are resident reporters
Also on the afternoon of October 5, the Vietnam Journalists Association summarized 5 years of implementing Decision No. 979-QD/HNBVN on activities of members who are resident reporters in localities.
Decision 979 has facilitated the local Journalists Association in managing, inspecting and supervising the activities of its members who are resident reporters, creating positive changes, achieving very important results, contributing to limiting activities beyond control as well as promptly protecting the legitimate rights and interests of its members; promoting the development of Vietnamese journalism and building a strong Association organization.
After 5 years of implementation, in general, representative offices and members who are reporters of local press agencies have closely followed the orientation of the steering agency and local press management agency; well implemented the Press Law and the principles and purposes of press agencies.
At the conference, the Nghe An Provincial Journalists Association also shared practical experiences in managing its members who are resident reporters. Although a locality with many resident press agencies, in recent years, press activities in Nghe An province have been in order, operating in the right direction, promoting the critical nature of the press on issues of public concern.
In particular, in 2021, Nghe An was one of the first provinces in the country to issue Project No. 11 dated November 22, 2021 of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee on "Improving the effectiveness of direction, orientation and handling of press information in Nghe An province in the period of 2021 - 2025". The concretization of many contents of Project No. 11 along with promoting the implementation of the contents of Plan 156 of the Central Propaganda Department has created cohesion, close coordination and unity among press agencies, promoting the combined strength of all types of information and communication./.
