President Putin talks about the cause of escalating conflict in the Middle East

Speaking at a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani at the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the worsening conflict between Israel and Palestine was the result of the failure of US policy, as well as the country's disregard for UN Security Council resolutions.

“Unfortunately, we are witnessing a sharp deterioration of the situation in the Middle East. I think many will agree with me that this is a clear example of the failure of US policy in this region,” President Putin said.

The Russian leader said that the US has been promoting its own ideas on how to resolve the situation and putting pressure on both Israel and Palestine. In this way, the US has always ignored the fundamental interests of the Palestinian people, especially the need to implement the decisions of the UN Security Council on the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian State.

President Putin stressed that Russia's position is to minimize damage to civilians.

Meanwhile, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said that Russia is ready to consult in the form of the “Middle East Quartet” on solutions to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, creating an atmosphere of trust. However, the US is not ready.

“We believe that Russia, the United Nations, the current president of the UN Security Council is Brazil, can play a quite useful and positive role in trying to find a way to resolve the conflict. However, the work of the “Middle East Quartet” has been hindered by the United States in recent years,” the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister said.

According to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin, the outbreak of tensions in the Middle East that occurred today, the dramatic development of events in the region, is largely the result of the United States “attempting to monopolize a solution in the Middle East.”

America and Russia
