Nghe An proactively responds to low pressure areas that are likely to strengthen into tropical depressions
(Baonghean.vn) - The Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense has just issued Official Dispatch No. 195/VP.PCTT on proactively responding to low pressure areas that are likely to strengthen into tropical depressions.
According to the bulletin of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 7:00 a.m. on October 16, the low pressure area was located at about 13.5-14.5 degrees North latitude; 111.5-112.5 degrees East longitude, and it is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the low pressure area is likely to strengthen into a tropical depression. In Nghe An, it is forecasted that from the evening and night of October 17 to October 19, there is a possibility of heavy rain with common rainfall from South Nghe An to Ha Tinh: 100 - 200mm; in the coastal plains of North Nghe An and the midlands, it is common 40 - 80mm, in some places over 100mm.

To proactively respond to the low pressure area that is likely to strengthen into a tropical depression, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue requests the Steering Committees for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of districts, cities, towns and related agencies and units to implement a number of contents, including:
Continue to strictly implement Official Dispatch No. 30/CD-UBND dated October 13, 2023 of the Provincial People's Committee Chairman - Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Disaster Prevention on proactively responding to floods and storms.
Closely monitor forecast bulletins and developments of low pressure areas; strictly manage vessels going out to sea; organize counting and notify owners of vessels and captains of ships and boats operating at sea of the location, direction of movement and developments of low pressure areas to proactively prevent and adjust production plans accordingly, ensuring safety.
Prepare rescue forces and vehicles to promptly handle situations.
The Provincial Radio and Television Station, Nghe An Newspaper and mass media agencies should increase information and communication about the development of the low pressure area that is likely to strengthen into a tropical depression so that authorities at all levels and people can proactively respond.
Organize the duty seriously, regularly report to the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and Disaster Prevention.
