Huynh Nhu and her teammates gave a special gift to coach Mai Duc Chung on the day they parted ways after many years together.

The match between the Vietnamese women's team and Japan was the last time coach Mai Duc Chung was in the position of Head Coach. The coach, born in 1951, decided to rest and spend time with his family after many years leading the Vietnamese women's team.

On the farewell day, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team were moved and choked up. Huynh Nhu, on behalf of the whole team, gave coach Mai Duc Chung a special and meaningful gift, which was a shirt with the number 9 and all the signatures of the team members.

The shirt became special when the female players sent their confidences to "father" Chung.

Huynh Nhu shared emotionally: "I remember the first day I practiced with the team, that year I was sent back to the club. You also told me to try harder. Since then, I have tried very hard to return to the team. Thanks to that, I have Huynh Nhu today. During the time working with you, I learned a lot, the love and humility from a teacher who always has a warm heart. I wish you good health and happiness with your family. For Vietnamese women's football, you are forever."

Striker Hai Yen wrote on her personal page: "Thank you for always accompanying us on every journey, whether it's difficult or glorious. Thank you for everything."

Goalkeeper Kim Thanh wrote: "In 2019, at this place, you trusted me and gave me the opportunity to compete and achieve more success than expected. In 2023, also at this place, you said goodbye to me and Vietnamese women's football. What you have brought to me and Vietnamese women's football are achievements that deserve to be cherished.

More specifically, you brought Vietnamese women's football to the World Cup for the first time, which was amazing. I wish you good health and happiness with your family and in life. Thank you, great teacher and respected father."

On the evening of November 3, the Vietnamese women's team returned home from Uzbekistan. The players returned to their clubs to prepare for the 2023 national championship, while Huynh Nhu returned to Lank to continue playing in the Portuguese national championship.

Coach Mai Duc Chung is a monument to Vietnamese women's football.

Regarding the captaincy of the Vietnamese women's team, coach Mai Duc Chung once proposed Japanese coach Akira Ijiri to replace him. This coach has many years of leading the Vietnamese women's U17 and U20 teams.

"I believe Mr. Akira will understand the culture and lifestyle of Vietnam. He also has expertise. Coach Akira is a convenient option, helping VFF not have to hire experts from other places, but when they return, they will not understand the culture and lifestyle of the women's team. That is the best choice for the Vietnamese women's team," said coach Mai Duc Chung./.
