(Baonghean.vn) - As a "young" school in the high school system of Nghe An province, after 20 years of construction, Cat Ngan High School (Thanh Chuong district) has strived to overcome difficulties, gradually affirming the brand and tradition of the ancient Cat Ngan learning land.
BRAND AFFIRMATION EFFORTS
Thanh Chuong land in general and Cat Ngan area in particular have a tradition of studiousness and good learning. Currently, in Thanh Lien commune, there is still a stele house of Tong Cat Ngan recording the names of 267 doctors, bachelors, and bachelors who passed the exams in the 15th, 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. This is considered a miniature "Temple of Literature" of the ancient Cat Ngan area.
Cat Ngan area includes 11 communes in the northwest of the district (Phong Thinh, Thanh Lien, Thanh Tien, Cat Van, Thanh Hoa, Thanh Nho, Thanh My, Hanh Lam, Thanh Duc, Thanh Son, Ngoc Lam) with a large population and a large number of students. To meet the learning needs of children in Cat Ngan area, in the early years of the 21st century, the leaders of Thanh Chuong district and teacher Trinh Van Binh, then Vice Principal of Thanh Chuong 3 High School, devotedly, responsibly, and persistently pursued to submit to the province for approval of the policy of establishing another high school in Cat Ngan area.
Cat Ngan High School was officially established on April 25, 2003, under Decision No. 1477 of the Provincial People's Committee. According to Mr. Phan Ba Ngoc - Party Secretary, Chairman of Thanh Lien Commune People's Committee: The establishment of Cat Ngan Semi-public High School has created learning opportunities for children; because before this school existed, the whole region only had Thanh Chuong 3 High School, which only met 2/3 of the learning needs and currently, about 95 - 98% of children in the region enter high school.
Cat Ngan Semi-Public High School, in the early years, had poor facilities, only 6 grade 4 classrooms, with 326 students, had to organize 2 shifts and meetings of management staff, teachers were forced to be held outside of office hours, even at night. The team of management staff, teachers and staff at that time also had only 13 people, including the principal, vice principal and 8 teachers, 3 staff in charge of training people, training letters of hundreds of students. Despite teaching and learning in extremely difficult conditions, in the first school year of establishment, the school had 7 excellent students in the province in grade 10.
Teacher Trinh Van Binh - former Principal of the school shared: Those first "sweet fruits" continue to affirm the tradition of studiousness and good study of children in Cat Ngan area; are the spiritual motivation, encouraging teachers and students to continue to strive, to rise up with the will and belief that "nothing is impossible". The first course of the 2003 - 2006 school year had a graduation rate of over 95%; many of them passed the entrance exams to universities and colleges.
In 2009, after 6 years of establishment, Cat Ngan Semi-Public High School was transformed into a public school model (in Decision No. 3974, dated August 14, 2009 of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee) with the name Cat Ngan High School; continuing to mark a new milestone, a new position of the school. The school received investment from the province and district in terms of facilities, equipment and arrangement of teachers, meeting the requirements of teaching and learning.
The quality of teaching and learning increases every year; including the key quality with the number of excellent students in the province increasing and achieving high awards. Up to now, the school has 72 students achieving excellent students at the provincial level, including First and Second prizes in the subjects of Literature, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, History... The graduation rate is always above 98%, in which many years it has reached 100%.
Along with taking care of the quality of cultural education, Cat Ngan High School also focuses on educating revolutionary ideals, ethics, lifestyle, skills and arousing the desire to contribute in students through activities related to the source, volunteer activities for the community and through competitions and performances. Every year, many students of the school are admitted to the Party and in the 2022-2023 school year alone, there were 9 students. Cat Ngan High School students also won many high prizes at cultural - artistic, physical education - sports competitions and festivals; some students achieved the title of "3 Good Students" at the provincial level.
Teacher Mai Xuan Toan - Party Cell Secretary, Principal of Cat Ngan High School shared: Generations of cadres, teachers and staff at this school always have the awareness and will to strive hard to not disappoint the parents who have trusted them with their children; at the same time, they have increased the achievements of this "young" school in the high school system with many "big trees" in the province. Many generations of managers and teachers have left many marks along with the development of the school.
From this school, generations of students have grown up, many of whom have now become engineers, doctors, police officers, military officers, and many successful businessmen, leaders holding important positions in the Party, State and localities. The school's brand name attracts more and more students to study. Currently, the school has 16 classes in 3 grades 10, 11 and 12; the total number of students is nearly 600.
BUILDING A SCHOOL THAT MEETS NATIONAL STANDARDS
In response to the need for comprehensive reform of general education, creating a good environment for students to develop their intelligence, morality and talent; over the years, the school's management staff, teachers and employees have persistently strived to perfect the criteria for building a national standard school. Currently, the school is implementing the organization and management work according to the standards, regulations of the industry and the Party Committee, authorities at all levels and the school's internal rules and regulations. Students are guaranteed to meet the tasks and rights according to the Charter of High Schools.
The school staff is sufficient in number and structure, ensuring the implementation of educational programs and the organization of educational activities. The school has a total of 39 managers, teachers, and employees, and 100% of them have met the training and development standards; of which nearly 18% of teachers have qualifications above the standard; there are 13 excellent homeroom teachers and excellent teachers in the province. In addition to qualifications, the sense of responsibility and dedication to the profession and to the students of the staff, teachers, and employees are always the strengths of the school. This is the core factor for the school to complete the teaching task in each school year with increasingly affirmed quality and the maturity of students through generations.
Although located in a difficult area of Thanh Chuong district, by actively mobilizing budget resources from all levels, especially socialized resources, currently over nearly 15,000m2The school campus has a complete infrastructure system, including a 3-storey building with 18 standard classrooms; a system of practice rooms for the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics (with 40 computers), Foreign Languages; Music, reading room, library, etc.; a playground and practice ground for all subjects: football, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, physical education and national defense and security education indoors, etc. The school takes care of building the landscape and campus to meet the criteria: Green, clean, beautiful, safe; contributing to building a modern, friendly, cultural, civilized, and happy school.
The school also focuses on building relationships between schools, families and society; associated with innovation in educational content and methods, focusing on training key, mass quality, taking care of education for students in difficult circumstances, students with learning difficulties, and educating life skills for students. The quality of education at the school has therefore been gradually affirmed. The 2022-2023 school year alone is the year that marks a leap in teaching quality, with the school's high school graduation exam results increasing by 19 places compared to the previous school year, ranking 48/111 schools/centers in the whole province with a 100% graduation rate.
With perseverance, efforts and the mindset that although "behind" in the year of establishment, it is impossible to "behind" in the quality of the collective of managers, teachers, staff and students of all generations; on October 16, 2023, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued Decision No. 3336 recognizing Cat Ngan High School as meeting national standards. The Ministry of Education and Training awarded a Certificate of Merit to the collective school for its many achievements in the 2022 - 2023 school year.
