Nghe An has 1 work winning Second Prize in the Contest 'Listen to your child speak'

(Baonghean.vn) - Vi Min Chon - a 3rd grade student at Chau Tien Primary School, Chau Tien Commune, Quy Hop District, has won the Second Prize in the "Listen to your child speak" Contest launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union.

“Listen to your child” is a competition to create communication products to raise awareness of gender equality for children in ethnic minority areas. This year, the competition was launched for the first time by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women’s Union.

This is an activity under Project 8 "Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children" - National Target Program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021 - 2030.

The contest will be launched in May 2023 and will be implemented in 50 provinces and cities in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

Responding to the contest, the Nghe An Provincial Women's Union coordinated with the Department of Education and Training and the Provincial Youth Union to launch the contest in 11 districts implementing Project 8, targeting children. At the same time, encouraging the participation of ethnic minority children, children with disabilities, and children in particularly disadvantaged communes and villages.

After more than 4 months of implementation, the Provincial Women's Union received 104 entries, including 92 paintings and 12 clips with rich, diverse and colorful themes, expressing children's dreams of a happy family, no violence, equality, and the dream of going to school...

Through the preliminary round, the Provincial Women's Union selected 23 paintings and 7 clips to submit to the Central level competition.

Out of 1,200 works submitted to the Central Association, 37 outstanding works were selected for awards.

Nghe An province has the work of Vi Min Chon (8 years old), a 3rd grade student at Chau Tien Primary School, Chau Tien Commune, Quy Hop District, who excellently won the second prize of the contest.

Vi Min Chon's work is a painting called "Pounding rice with parents". Chon shared: "Born and raised in a particularly difficult commune of Quy Hop district, as a child of the Thai ethnic group, my family's life is still full of difficulties and hardships. Every day, in addition to the time I spend going to school with my friends, I always help my parents with housework. Although the circumstances are still difficult, my family always loves and helps each other. I will try to study well to become a useful person for my family and society in the future".

The contest has truly spread initiatives and communication products suitable for ethnic minority children, thereby supporting the communication activities of the "Leaders of Change" Club, contributing to promoting gender equality in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the current period.
