The city of Vinh will have a street lined with crape myrtle trees on Le Hong Phong Street.
(Baonghean.vn) - This information was shared by the leaders of Vinh City Green Park Joint Stock Company regarding the progress of the green space renovation project on Le Hong Phong Street.
Specifically, Vinh City invested 6.168 billion VND to relocate and renovate existing trees and completely replant them with crape myrtle trees.Le Hong Phong StreetTo create a unique focal point, the consulting unit previously selected 85 existing crape myrtle trees for replanting in the new location after classification; at the same time, they invested in purchasing 334 new crape myrtle trees, with trunk diameters of 20-25 cm and heights of 5-6 m, from elsewhere to plant according to the new design (6-8 m/tree) along both sides of the sidewalks of Le Hong Phong Street.

Previously, out of 511 trees of various types planted on Le Hong Phong Street, after classification, the company discarded 89 rotten or unsuitable trees, keeping 85 crape myrtle trees for planting; the remaining trees were transferred to wards, communes, and agencies/units to be planted at public playgrounds...

In addition, to create a focal point and contribute to urban beautification after sidewalk upgrades, Vinh City invested 3.441 billion VND in renovating trees along Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street. This included relocating and replanting 45 existing suitable trees according to the design; and planting 261 new trees with trunk diameters of approximately 20 cm and heights of 5-6 m to create a distinctive urban green space. These are new tree species that have been planted in several locations and are thriving, such as on the sidewalks of Le Nin Boulevard and in front of the Provincial Department of Finance and the Provincial Tax Department.

Le Hong Phong Street and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street are two streets in the center of Vinh City with very high traffic density. According to the renovation and upgrading project, the road width of Le Hong Phong Street will be widened from 14m to 18m, with 2 meters of sidewalks on each side.
Mr. Phan Xuan Bao, Director of Vinh City Green Park Joint Stock Company, said: According to the plan, the renovation of trees on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street will be completed before the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon 2024; as for Le Hong Phong Street, due to the large volume of construction work, it depends on the progress of the construction items, and the unit will start construction when the sidewalk surface is fully restored.

It is known that the renovation and replacement of trees is one of the components of the project to upgrade the sidewalks of Le Hong Phong and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai streets that Vinh City is currently implementing. The construction is expected to take place from October 2023 to August 2024. Accordingly, along with the construction and installation of manholes, inspection pits, and drainage wells to prevent flooding, the city will invest in burying cables underground and upgrading sidewalks to beautify the urban landscape.
