In 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam will continue to develop in a stable direction.

Ho Chi Minh City National University will organize two rounds of competency assessment exams before the high school graduation exam. Round 1 is scheduled to be held on April 7, 2024 and round 2 on June 2, 2024.
In addition to the 21 locations held in 2023, it is expected that 2 more testing locations will be added in Binh Phuoc and Tay Ninh provinces in 2024.
In addition, Ho Chi Minh City National University also plans to continue expanding the scale of the competency assessment exam in 2025. At the same time, the exam structure will be adjusted to suit the new general education program.
After 6 years of organization, the capacity assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City National University has increased the number of registered candidates.
From 2018 to 2023, the number of candidates registering for the exam increased steadily each year. Specifically, in 2018, nearly 5,000 candidates from about 616 high schools registered for the exam.
By 2023, this number will be more than 100,000 candidates from 1,815 high schools. The number of registrations for the 2023 exam increased by 9% compared to 2022 and increased by more than 50% compared to 2021.
In addition, the competency assessment exam has also expanded its organizational coordination: in 2018, the exam was organized within the scope of Ho Chi Minh City National University with 7 member universities.
By 2023, 47 universities and colleges nationwide will jointly organize the competency assessment exam.
In addition, the number of schools using the results of this exam also increased, from 7 schools in 2018 to 97 schools in 2023. In fact, this number is even higher because there are units that have not sent official documents on the use of the results of the competency assessment exam.
