Miss Lan Anh used to be a pilot in the US, felt 'outdated' when returning to Vietnam
Miss Earth Vietnam 2023 - Miss Lan Anh feels 'outdated' in Vietnam because of the language barrier and not understanding young people's slang.
Lan Anh - Miss Earth Vietnam 2023 was born in 1997, left her home country at the age of 1 to go to Europe, then settled in the US with her family. She has a toned, hot body with a height of 1.71m and body measurements: 85-60-95cm. The beauty graduated from California State University Fullerton.
From November 28, Lan Anh and more than 100 contestants from other countries will compete in the Miss Earth 2023 contest held in Vietnam.
Do Thi Lan Anh revealed that her dream since childhood was to become a pilot. She partly realized her dream when a friend taught her how to fly a plane, and she had the opportunity to sit in the cockpit while studying in the US. Lan Anh played the role of co-pilot on a small plane that could accommodate 3 to 4 people and flew over the California coast.
When asked about the superpower she would like to possess, the beauty queen born in 1997 chose the ability to read minds. Lan Anh believes that having a deep understanding of other people's thoughts will help her empathize and broaden her perspective on the world. Having lived in Europe, the US and Vietnam, the beauty believes that having a multicultural background gives her experience, the ability to connect and understand the problems that may arise in the world. This helps her broaden her horizons, improve her communication skills and be more open.
Although she has never lived in Vietnam for more than a year, Lan Anh did not experience culture shock when she returned to her home country to compete in the beauty pageant because her family always preserves the culture of her homeland and communicates in Vietnamese. The 26-year-old beauty queen is confident in her ability to cook traditional dishes for holidays and Tet, especially Vietnamese chicken. However, Lan Anh admitted that not growing up in Vietnam made her feel a bit lonely and "outdated" when she did not understand the slang of young people in her home country.
Lan Anh admitted that she was an "outsider" at Miss Earth Vietnam 2023 because of her difficulty in communicating and presenting in Vietnamese in front of the audience. However, the support from other contestants helped her regain her confidence and understand more about her country's culture. The beauty is still trying to understand her homeland better, affirming that Vietnam is a beautiful country with friendly people.
Since childhood, Lan Anh has loved wearing dresses and skirts, performed in front of her parents at a "mini fashion show" at home, and regularly participated in fashion activities while still in school. Although she loves being on stage, her biggest motivation for participating in Miss Earth Vietnam 2023 is the opportunity to connect with the younger generation and spread the message of environmental protection.
According to Lan Anh, small actions such as recycling plastic bottles, old clothes, planting small trees at home, using public transport more... will help reduce negative impacts on the environment. The new Miss Earth Vietnam believes that each small action from each individual can create a big change.
Having faced prejudices about a beauty queen, Lan Anh affirmed that the ability to connect, empathize, and inspire are important factors, not just physical beauty or performance ability. She is proud of the beauty of Vietnamese women, believing that the audience is also changing their concept of beauty.
As a beauty queen, Lan Anh wishes to maintain and spread the long-lasting culture of her homeland, as well as demonstrate the strength and sincerity of women. This is clearly shown in her passion for independent family care - a value she was inspired by her mother.
Miss Earth Vietnam 2023 also affirmed that she will always be an honest version of herself. "Maintaining a beautiful image but not yourself in front of the public is very 'tiring'. Every action that comes from yourself will easily touch the audience's hearts," she shared. Being true to herself also helps Lan Anh inspire the younger generation, so that they can also live true to their values.
In the future, Lan Anh aims to build a sustainable lifestyle for herself and her family, wishing to own an environmentally friendly house in the next 10 years. This is not only a dream about living space but also a testament to her ability to create a green, clean and sustainable world.
