US President declares to provide weapons to Israel until Hamas is completely destroyed
(Baonghean.vn) - The United States will continue to provide weapons to Israel until the Jewish State completely eliminates the Palestinian Islamic movement Hamas. US President Joe Biden announced at a reception at the White House on the occasion of the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah.
“We will continue to provide military support until (Israel) eliminates Hamas, but we have to be careful, very careful,” Biden said. However, he warned that the international community’s view of the situation could change due to the nature of Israel’s military campaign. “The world’s view could change overnight. We cannot allow that to happen,” the US leader noted.
President Biden stressed that the United States will also continue to provide humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. “We will continue to lead the global initiative for humanitarian assistance to Palestinian civilians. We are drawing the attention of our Israeli friends to the need to protect civilians,” he said. The US president also expressed concern about the rising level of anti-Semitism in the United States and around the world in the context of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. He noted that Washington “has no intention of turning away from this issue.”
Meanwhile, the Jerusalem Post reported that Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi and Israel Security Agency (ISA) Director Ronen Bar held a meeting in Khan Yunis, highlighting the progress in Israel's campaign against Hamas. "We are consolidating the successes achieved in northern Gaza, the south and underground," Halevi was quoted as saying. Bar, on the other hand, added that "no force can stand against the combined forces" of the IDF and ISA. The meeting was also attended by IDF Southern Commander Yaron Finkleman.
