Fraudulently 'running errands' for 12 people, appropriating over 1 billion VND
After receiving billions of dong from people thanks to "running errands", Phan Ngoc Phu fled the area.
On December 22, Dak Lak Provincial Police announced that they had just temporarily detained Phan Ngoc Phu (45 years old, residing in Thong Nhat Ward, Buon Ho Town) for 4 months to investigate the act of "fraudulent appropriation of property".
Phan Ngoc Phu was identified as having tricked 12 people into getting jobs and then embezzling more than 1.2 billion VND.

Initial investigation results show that since 2013, Phu has known Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh H. (65 years old, residing in Buon Ho town). After that, Phu gave false information that he was able to help with job applications, school applications, and job transfers.
Trusting Phu, from 2013 to 2015, Ms. H. received more than 1.6 billion VND from 12 acquaintances to ask Phu to help her find a job.
Ms. H. gave Phu more than 1.5 billion VND. When the appointment came, because she could not find a job, Ms. H. asked for her money back. However, Phu only returned 290 million VND. Ms. H. then filed a complaint with the police.
In June 2017, the investigation agency invited Phu to work once, after which Phu fled the area.
On December 14, 2023, the police issued a nationwide wanted notice for Phan Ngoc Phu. On December 20, 2023, Phu surrendered to the Dak Lak Provincial Police and confessed to all his crimes.
