Arrested 4 gunmen who robbed 8 billion in Ecopark urban area
Pretending to exchange money, Nguyen Anh Son (born 1998) and his accomplices prepared guns and knives and then asked Ms. Nguyen Hong H. to come to a coffee shop in Ecopark urban area to exchange about 8 billion VND and then opened fire to rob.
On January 5, the Investigation Police Agency - Hung Yen Provincial Police initiated a case, prosecuted 4 defendants Nguyen Anh Son (born 1998, from Thanh Hoa), Nguyen Minh Chien (born 2001, from Binh Phuoc), Khuc Ngoc Doan (born 2003, from Thai Binh) and Duong Dang Nam Truong (born 2000, from Bac Giang) for the crimes of "Murder", "Robbery", "Illegal possession and use of military weapons".
At the same time, the decision was made to arrest Nguyen Van Dien (born 1995, from Bac Giang) for the above crimes.
Previously, on December 26, 2023, Hung Yen Provincial Police received a report of an incident in which 5 subjects used 4 guns and 3 knives to commit a case of "Murder", "Robbery" of about 8 billion VND, shooting and injuring 1 person.
The incident occurred at Duc Trung coffee shop, on Thao Nguyen street, Ecopark urban area, in Cuu Cao commune (Van Giang, Hung Yen).
Upon receiving the information, the Director of Hung Yen Provincial Police directed the establishment of a special project, mobilized professional departments to investigate and arrest the perpetrators.
On the night of December 29 and early morning of December 30, 2023, police arrested Son, Chien, Doan and Truong while they were hiding in Viet Yen district, Bac Giang province. Police seized 4 revolver guns with full magazines inside, 34 other bullets and many related evidences.
At the investigation agency, the suspects stated that Son was the mastermind who gathered a group of 5 people to plan to find someone to exchange money to rob.
They contacted Ms. Nguyen Hong H. (born in 1979, in Tay Ho district, Hanoi) and made an appointment to meet at a coffee shop in Ecopark urban area (Hung Yen), transacting about 8 billion VND.
When arriving at the meeting point, Son and his accomplices used guns to shoot into the air, controlling Nguyen Hong H.'s group to rob the bag of money. During the escape, the group accompanying Ms. H. struggled with Doan over the bag of money, then the remaining subjects used guns to rescue them and then ran away together.
Hung Yen Provincial Police are expanding the investigation into the case.
