According to Ria Novosti, former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter believes that there will be no peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.

"How to negotiate now? There will be no negotiations. The Ukrainian armed forces will surrender unconditionally. The Russian army is attacking to destroy the Ukrainian army. And this will lead to the collapse of Kiev" - former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter said.

According to Mr. Ritter, there have been many proposals and attempts in Ukraine to end the conflict, but each time the Kiev government has refused to implement them. Now, the Ukrainian leadership will wait for only one outcome of the conflict.

“Why negotiate with an opponent that you are trying to destroy and are succeeding in? So in my view, there will be no negotiations. This conflict will end when Russia defeats the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and the Ukrainians say, they are surrendering, unconditionally surrendering,” said former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter.

Meanwhile, describing developments on the front, Financial Times quoted Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ivan Pavlenko as saying that Russia's mass production and massive use of drones in the Northern Military District has become a major threat.

Observers also point out that the Ukrainian Armed Forces lag significantly behind the Russian military in terms of electronic warfare capabilities. At the same time, recent major Russian attacks on Ukrainian military targets only highlight the Ukrainians’ inability to counter Russian drones.

Previously, in December 2023, President Putin said the number of Ukrainian soldiers surrendering to Russian forces increased sharply, in the context of Kiev's counterattack falling into a stalemate./.
