Murder suspect arrested after 3 days on the run
The suspect in the murder of a female coffee shop employee was arrested by police after 3 days of hiding in a large area of land overgrown with weeds in Ben Luc district (Long An province).
At about 10:40 a.m. on January 9, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Criminal Police in coordination with Long An Provincial Police arrested the murder suspect while he was hiding in Luong Hoa Commune (Ben Luc District, Long An Province).
The suspect was identified as Nguyen Thanh T. (born in 1997), residing in Ben Do 1 Hamlet, Tan Phu Trung Commune, Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City. The suspect was escorted from his hiding place by detectives.
Earlier, at noon on January 6, people heard screams inside a kiosk that serves as a coffee shop on Highway 22 (Xuan Thoi Son Commune, Hoc Mon District, Ho Chi Minh City). At the same time, a young man quickly left on the victim's SH Mode motorbike at high speed.

People nearby came to check and found Ms. NTHP (22 years old, coffee shop employee) injured. Everyone took the victim to the emergency room but due to the severity of her injuries, Ms. P. died.
Afterwards, people discovered the suspect following Provincial Road 830 from Duc Hoa to Ben Luc town, Ben Luc district, Long An province.
In the area near Ca No bridge, people discovered the suspect abandoned his motorbike on the side of the road and ran down to a large area of land with overgrown weeds to hide.
Since the night of January 6, Ho Chi Minh City Police and Long An Provincial Police have mobilized many police officers to surround and block off the area where the suspect is hiding. Because this area is large and dense, it is difficult to capture the suspect. Police have used sniffer dogs and flycams to track down the suspect.
