2-year-old girl in Nghe An found in deep forest after 31 hours lost
(Baonghean.vn) - A 2-year-old girl who got lost and spent 31 hours in the deep forest has just been found by authorities.
On January 12, Mr. Lu Ngoc Tinh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Nhon Mai Commune (Tuong Duong District), said that after being discovered by the search force and taken to the Commune Health Station for examination, the health of Vu Thuy Dung (2 years old) is now stable and has been taken home by her family for care.
According to Mr. Tinh, this girl is the daughter of Mr. Vu Ba Dia, who lives in Huoi Co village (Nhon Mai commune), but is currently living in his wife's hometown in Tri Le commune (Que Phong district). Recently, Mr. Dia and his wife brought their daughter to visit her grandparents who are living in a hut in the fields. This area is deep in the forest, with few people passing by, about 1km from the residential area. On the morning of January 10, Mr. Dia's wife left her daughter in the hut for her grandfather to look after while she went to work in the fields. However, a while later, the man was shocked when he could not find his grandchild.

Because the area where his daughter went missing was densely forested and mountainous, fearing that something might happen to her, Dia's family quickly called on relatives, dozens of villagers, and Huoi Co village police to join the search.
"Upon receiving the news, Nhon Mai commune authorities dispatched dozens of officers including police, military, border guards..., along with hundreds of people to organize the search. Because this area is located in a deep, dangerous forest, the search was very difficult. On the first day, hundreds of people used flashlights to search until nearly 4am but still found no trace," said Mr. Lu Ngoc Tinh.
On the second day, the search team received additional support from the police and residents of Tri Le commune (Que Phong district), where Dia and his wife were residing.
After much effort, at 3:00 p.m. on January 11, Mr. Va Ba Tinh's group - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nhon Mai Commune found Dung crawling in the dense forest. At the time of discovery, the child was purple from the cold and showed signs of weakening health.
"The area where the child was found is about 1km from the hut and 2km from the residential area. This is a deep forest area with few people passing by. Meanwhile, on the night the girl went missing, there was drizzle in this area, the weather was below 10 degrees, very cold. Fortunately, the child still made it through," said the leader of Nhon Mai commune.
According to authorities, through initial investigation, the incident showed no signs of crime.
