Prosecution of doctors and nurses for creating fake records and taking advantage of health insurance
Ha Tinh Provincial Police said that the unit has just initiated a case and prosecuted 1 doctor, 1 nurse and 1 insurance agent for creating fake records for personal gain.
Specifically, 3 people were prosecuted for the crime of “Fraud in insurance business” including: Le Khac Hung (born in 1977, a doctor in the Department of Surgery at Huong Khe District General Hospital), nurse Le Thi Dieu Trinh (born in 1994) and Phan Thi Phuong (born in 1992, residing in Phuc Trach Commune, Huong Khe District). Phuong is an agent of an insurance company.
According to the investigation agency, while working as an insurance company agent, Phan Thi Phuong realized that the process of paying insurance benefits to customers with broken bones and skull fractures was quite easy, so she came up with the idea of creating fake medical records of customers to take advantage of insurance payments.

Phuong colluded with doctors and nurses at Huong Khe District General Hospital to find patients with broken bones and skull fractures at the hospital, then edited X-ray films and signed false documents to create medical records based on the personal information of some customers under his management.

From the above fake medical records, Phan Thi Phuong impersonated customers to request the insurance company to pay insurance benefits.
The above-mentioned group of subjects created 8 fake medical records and made 17 requests for insurance benefit payments, profiting from the total payment amount of nearly 727 million VND.
Currently, the investigation agency is continuing to investigate and expand the case.
