Russian Foreign Minister: Ukraine is attacking civilian targets with Western weapons
(Baonghean.vn) - According to Ria Novosti, speaking at the United Nations Security Council meeting on January 22 (local time), Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Ukrainian army is mercilessly attacking civilian targets in Russia.
"The merchants of death are not ashamed when their weapons, including cluster bombs and uranium-based shells, are methodically, mercilessly and deliberately attacked purely civilian targets, as happened in residential areas in Belgorod on December 30, 2023 and on January 21, 2024 in the market in Donetsk," Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
The Russian Foreign Minister stressed that the blood of dozens of dead civilians "still remains on the conscience of those who armed Ukraine"; at the same time, he said that they had the right to choose the target to attack.
Mr. Lavrov also noted that Ukraine is reselling some of the supplied weapons on the black market. According to the Russian Foreign Minister, it is easy to find quite a few advertisements on websites.
“It is hard to imagine that this is happening without the participation of Western businessmen, because, as they say, they have ‘washed their hands,’” Lavrov added.
Foreign Minister Lavrov stressed that Russia is still ready to negotiate on Ukraine, but this is not the way for Kiev's leaders to demonstrate power and satisfy "their illusions".
At the same time, the Russian Foreign Minister emphasized that the "peace formula" of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other similar formulas are "a path to nowhere". Mr. Lavrov said that the West should soon realize this./.
