(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of January 29, on the occasion of preparing to welcome the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024, the provincial working delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee visited, presented gifts, and wished a happy New Year to localities, units, and people in Tuong Duong district.
The delegation included: Colonel Bui Quang Thanh - Director of the Provincial Police; Dang Thanh Tung - Chief of the Provincial People's Committee Office; Nguyen Thi Thom - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission; leaders: Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Provincial Military Command, Provincial Border Guard Command, Provincial Ethnic Committee, Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs and Tuong Duong district.
In Tam Quang commune, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung and the working delegation visited and wished a Happy New Year to the people, cadres and soldiers in the commune.
Tam Quang is a highland border commune with a border length of 12,688 km. The commune has a total of 2,085 households with 8,286 people, including 5 ethnic groups: Thai, Kinh, Poong, Dan Lai, Kho Mu. The average income in 2023 is 48.1 million VND/person/year.
Tam Quang commune achieved new rural standards in 2017, is currently building an advanced new rural area and has achieved 9/19 criteria, with 8 criteria nearly achieved. The commune has eliminated temporary and degraded housing for 102 households in the area with support from all levels, sectors and enterprises.
Before the Lunar New Year 2024, local agencies and schools visited and presented 490 Tet gifts to poor households, policy families and social protection beneficiaries. The national defense, security and social order situation in the commune was basically stable, with no complicated incidents.
Speaking at the program, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung expressed his excitement at the results that Tam Quang commune has achieved in recent times. Tam Quang is a mountainous border commune, with the largest area in the district. With the solidarity, unity, and efforts of the Party Committee, the government, and the consensus of the people, the socio-economic development results of Tam Quang commune are very positive.
The economy develops based on the strength of agricultural production; the average income per capita is quite high; the rate of poor and near-poor households is close to the rate of poor households in the province. Although it is a border commune, Tam Quang has achieved new rural standards since 2017. Social security work and caring for people's lives are of concern.
In addition, attention has been paid to ensuring national defense and security. Armed forces in the area have coordinated well in building a national defense foundation associated with people's security posture, national border defense posture, maintaining border sovereignty, ensuring border security, rural security, and national security.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that, along with socio-economic development tasks, in recent years, the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, and Provincial Fatherland Front Committee have paid special attention to social security work, caring for the lives of poor households, policy families, meritorious people, and disadvantaged people.
In particular, the Program to mobilize support for building and repairing houses for poor households and households with housing difficulties in 2023 has built and repaired 7,517 solid houses for people. Of which, Tuong Duong district received support and completed 655 houses, while Tam Quang commune alone has completed the construction and repair of 119 houses.
In addition, over the past 11 years, the province has organized the Tet For the Poor program with positive and meaningful results. In the Tet For the Poor Program in 2024 alone, the province has mobilized nearly 141 billion VND, thereby allowing the poor to have a warm Tet, no one is left behind, demonstrating the nation's fine moral traditions with the spirit of loving others as you love yourself, mutual love, the whole leaf covers the torn leaf, the less torn leaf covers the more torn leaf.
In the coming time, with many difficulties and challenges, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung requested Tam Quang commune to promote the achieved results, continue to unite, make efforts, mobilize the consensus of the people to implement the goals and tasks of socio-economic development, national defense, security, and continue to effectively implement the program of building advanced new rural areas. Tuong Duong district needs to pay attention to supporting Tam Quang commune to soon achieve the goal of becoming an advanced new rural commune.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested the Party Committee and authorities of Tuong Duong district and Tam Quang commune to continue to care for the poor, people in difficult circumstances, policy families, meritorious people and the disadvantaged.

At the program, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung presented Tet gifts to the following units: Tuong Duong District Military Command, Tuong Duong District Police, Tam Quang Border Guard Station, Commune Police, Tam Quang Commune Military Command, Tam Hop Commune Standing Militia Squad and presented Tet gifts to 100 poor households in Tam Quang Commune.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung presented Tet gifts to the family of Ms. Vieng Thi Hoanh, resident of Tan Huong village, and the family of Ms. Vi Thi Sam, resident of Tam Lien village, who are prestigious people in the ethnic minority community.
Previously, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung and the working delegation visited and wished a Happy New Year to the family of Mr. Luong Xuan Quyen (72 years old), residing in Quang Phuc village, Tam Dinh commune.
Mr. Quyen is a Thai ethnic, a 2/4 disabled veteran, often sick. Mr. Quyen has 4 married children, he is currently living with his youngest son, Luong Van Vinh and his wife, the family's income mainly depends on slash-and-burn farming.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung expressed his gratitude and wished Mr. Luong Xuan Quyen good health, less illness, and continued to live happily with his children and grandchildren; and wished his family a new year of Giap Thin with good health, luck, peace, happiness, prosperity and well-being.
