(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of February 2, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to review and evaluate the situation and results of the activities of the Provincial Steering Committee for Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue (PCCC and CNCH) in 2023; and deploy tasks for 2024.
Comrade Le Hong Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue chaired the conference. Also attending were representatives of departments and branches who are members of the Steering Committee for Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue.
Nghe An province is located in the center of the North Central region, with the largest area in the country. The whole province has more than 32,540 facilities under fire prevention and fighting management (including: 6,513 facilities managed by the police; 26,027 facilities managed by the People's Committees at the commune level). In the harsh weather and climate conditions in the province, there is often intense heat and prolonged dryness, so there is always a potential for fire.high risk of fire and explosion.
According to statistics, from December 15, 2022 to December 14, 2023, there were 68 fires in the province, causing no human casualties, and property damage of about 26 billion VND; compared to the same period in 2022, the number of fires decreased by 13 cases, 4 fewer deaths, but property damage increased by 20.2 billion VND.
Of these, 31 were urban fires and 37 were rural fires. In terms of fire nature, 26 were medium fires and 42 were small fires.
In 2023, the authorities conducted fire prevention and fighting inspections at 34,202 establishments, detected 488 violations, drew up 377 administrative violation records; imposed fines and paid the state budget VND 5,871,550,000.
Despite many difficulties, fire prevention and rescue work in 2023 has achieved encouraging results. In the province, there were no major fires causing serious damage to people and property, the rate of investigation into the cause of the fires was high (100%); 12 people were directly rescued, hundreds of people were guided to escape, and the estimated value of saved property was up to hundreds of billions of VND...
Despite many efforts in implementing prevention work, the fire and explosion situation is still complicated, fires in markets, businesses, houses, warehouses, forest fires... still occur frequently. Some units and localities have not paid attention to directing the State management of fire prevention and fighting; have not strictly handled violations of regulations on ensuring fire safety, especially in construction investment, especially in high-rise apartment buildings, markets, commercial centers...
Concluding the meeting, Mr. Le Hong Vinh - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged the efforts of departments, branches, members of the Provincial Fire Prevention and Rescue Steering Committee for their positive activities in the past year, especially in not allowing serious fires to occur, causing no human casualties, thereby contributing to ensuring security and order in the area, protecting the peaceful life of the people.
It is forecasted that in 2024, the weather situation will still be complicated, with potential risks of fire and explosion. The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested departments, branches, sectors and localities to implement well the following issues: Research, innovate the form, content and methods of propaganda, dissemination and education of legal knowledge on fire prevention and fighting and rescue to ensure practicality, specificity and widespread influence, depth, contributing to raising awareness, consciousness and responsibility of cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers and people towards fire prevention and fighting work.
Continue to advise the People's Committees at all levels to establish an interdisciplinary team to conduct a general inspection of fire prevention and fighting safety in the province; focus on industrial parks, production facilities, residential areas, warehouses with fire and explosion risks, apartment buildings, high-rise buildings; key forests with high fire risks... focus on advising the Provincial People's Committee to direct, handle and resolve the situation of construction works violating fire prevention and fighting regulations in the province.
Strictly implement the work of standing forces and means ready to fight fires and rescue 24/24h, promptly and effectively participate in handling fires, explosions, incidents and accidents.
