During the Lunar New Year, many auto repair shops are closed. Therefore, vehicle owners should note some details that can be taken care of at home.

Self-inflating tires

First, the vehicle owner needs to check the tires. Accordingly, the vehicle owner should walk around the vehicle and visually check all four wheels.

Tires are the part that directly contacts the road surface and the smallest contact surface area is the size of the palm of your hand. Therefore, if the tire is worn, the vehicle's grip will also decrease, which means the rate of accidents will increase, especially on slippery roads.

Drivers should get into the habit of checking their tires once a week and measuring their tire pressure. Under-inflated tires cause a number of problems when driving, most simply causing tire wear, creating drag (increasing fuel consumption) and poor grip when turning or braking.

Users can purchase a tire pressure gauge to check whether the tire pressure is suitable for different road conditions. For example, when operating a vehicle on a sandy road, it is necessary to reduce tire pressure and soften the tire.

At home, drivers should prepare a pump and store it in the trunk. In case of flat tires, drivers can handle it themselves.

Keep clean

One thing drivers should note is that if they drive on muddy roads or in the rain during Tet, they should clean their cars themselves.

It's pretty simple, keeping your car floor clean and tidy will help keep your car in good condition.

If using cleaning solutions during cleaning, be careful not to get them on the gearshift lever, metal steering wheel or brake pedal.

Of course, if you clean these parts with a solution, they can always be “shiny as new”, but at the same time they also become slippery, difficult to control and can cause accidents.

Next are some notes when cleaning the exterior. Regularly washing the car not only helps keep the car clean, removing road dust, tree sap, and even bird droppings (bird droppings wear down the car's surface paint), but also helps create a barrier between the car's paint and the effects of the weather (wax should be used during the cleaning process to achieve the expected results).

Note, when washing the car, you should have at least two buckets of water and two sponges, one to wipe the body of the car, and one to clean the wheels. In addition, you should use specialized car cleaning solutions to clean different areas inside the car, to avoid damaging materials such as leather, felt or plastic attached to the car.
