Schools convert English certificate scores in university admissions in 2024
In addition to using English certificates in university admissions in 2024, universities publish conversion tables from these certificates.
According to the announcement of Hanoi National University of Education, candidates with international English certificates: IELTS or TOEFL iBT (valid for 2 years as of May 19, 2024) will be considered for priority points when applying for admission under Method 2 (XTT2) to the majors of Mathematics Education (teaching Mathematics in English), English Education and English Language; the priority points (on a 30-point scale) are converted from English certificates as follows:

With the combined admission method according to a separate project, the National Economics University allows candidates to use converted international English certificate scores to replace the English exam scores in the admission combination. The admission score is the total score of the two graduation exams plus the converted certificate score and priority points (if any).
The highest conversion score is 10, applicable to candidates with IELTS certificate 7.5 - 9.0 or TOEFL iBT from 102 or higher or TOEIC (L&R/S/W) level 965/190/190 or higher. The lowest conversion score is 8, applicable to candidates with IELTS certificate 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 46 - 59 or higher or TOEIC (L&R/S/W) 785/160/150 or higher.

Foreign Trade University has also announced how to convert international language certificate scores in the 2024 admission season. Accordingly, candidates with IELTS certificates from 6.5; 7; 7.5; 8.0 - 9.0 will be converted to 8.5; 9; 9.5; 10 points, respectively.

The University of Transport also allows candidates to convert their IELTS certificates for university admission in 2024. Accordingly, candidates will be awarded 10 points if they have an IELTS certificate of 7.0 or higher. Candidates with IELTS 5.0 will be converted to 8 points.
