Nghe An male student graduated with excellent results in Pedagogy with GPA 4.0
(Baonghean.vn) - Twice winning the second prize in the national excellent student competition in Biology, former student of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted Ha Huy Cong decided to pursue Pedagogy. In early 2024, this male student continued to surprise with excellent academic results when achieving an absolute GPA of 4.0.
Keep trying
Ha Huy Cong was recognized for his graduation results from the High Quality class of Biology Pedagogy, Faculty of Biology when he just finished the first semester of his final year at Hanoi National University of Education. Completing the program in just 3.5 years, earlier than usual, seems to be in this male student's plan.
That result probably does not surprise many people, because not only during his university years but also since his high school days, Ha Huy Cong - a former student of the Biology class at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted - has had a long history of outstanding achievements.

“The first achievement I had was First Prize in Information Technology at the National Youth Information Technology Competition in grade 5” – Ha Huy Cong shared about his first years as a primary school student.
"Starting" from Computer Science, Cong said he did not really have a knack for this subject, even though he later won second prize in the provincial-level Youth Computer Science competition in grade 8.
During his 4 years of studying at Dang Thai Mai Secondary School - the top quality school in Vinh city, Cong also tried his hand at English, Chemistry and then stopped at Biology, because he realized this was the subject he loved the most.

I started studying Biology in 6th grade, but I didn't like it much in the first 3 years because Biology at that time was mainly memorization, like a social subject. In 8th grade, my best friend took a Biology major and often used Biology exercises to challenge me. Seeing that it was fun, he then invited me to study Biology and I gradually fell in love with this subject.
This is a subject close to life, although it is a natural subject, it is easy to observe so it creates interest for learners.
Although he turned late, Ha Huy Cong finished early in this subject at the 10th grade entrance exam -Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Cong won the position of Valedictorian in Biology. A year later, while in 11th grade, he won second prize in Biology at the National Excellent Student Competition.
This achievement was repeated in grade 12 and Cong was in the top 32 candidates with the highest scores to participate in the International Olympic Team selection exam.
During 12 years of high school, Ha Huy Cong impressed teachers with his gentleness, diligence, and neatness.

She also said that high school was quite easy for her because she was lucky to meet many teachers who were passionate about their profession and devoted to their students. Therefore, although there were many times when she felt pressure about grades and exams, she considered it as a motivation for her to keep trying.
No regrets about choosing education
This is Ha Huy Cong's answer when sharing about his decision to choose a major and a school: Right from the first steps into the gate of Hanoi National University of Education, I believed that my choice was the right one.
Why choose?Pedagogy? Explaining this, Cong simply said that it was a passion. Moreover, the passion was not just temporary but had been ignited since childhood: Ever since I was a child, I wanted to be a teacher. My first students were the teddy bears at home – Cong recounted.

Another person who influenced Cong was his mother, who used to be a primary school teacher in Tan Ky district. When he was preparing to enter first grade, his mother was teaching second grade. At that time, I really liked going to school to watch my mother teach. My concept of the teaching profession was still very vague at that time, but I liked the feeling of standing on the podium imparting knowledge to students. My family always supported me, even though this was not a trendy or "hot" industry.
Passionate and loving the teaching profession, throughout 12 years of high school, the Biology student who was twice a national excellent student has persevered towards this goal.

Even when registering for direct admission to university, Cong planned to only prepare one set of documents for Hanoi Pedagogical University. Later, encouraged by his mother, Cong registered another set of documents for Hanoi Medical University.
However, as expected, despite being on the list of candidates for the most prestigious medical school in the country, Cong later refused this opportunity. Previously, while studying in grade 12, Cong was also one of the few students who achieved national excellence at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted. He wrote quite “special” applications to the Department of Education and Training, and the school’s Board of Directors with the content “Register to study at a teacher training school and commit to serving in Nghe An after graduation”.
Perfectionist male student
With a favorable starting point, Ha Huy Cong began his first days in the high-quality class of Biology Pedagogy with enthusiasm. Even when he first started studying at the school, because he was quite "special", the lecturers at the school created conditions for him to participate in a scientific research project early. This was also the project that he went to Japan with his teachers to participate in the student exchange program at Nara Women's University and presented to many foreign teachers and students.

Memories with the teacher training school are also the journey to conquer subjects, including many subjects that were not Cong's strengths, especially general subjects.
Before entering the teacher training college, I determined that I had to try hard, because compared to my high school classmates, I had chosen a fairly easy school. However, the learning process was not easy, especially the first 2 years with many social subjects, and a lot of memorization.
Meanwhile, I myself am not a person with a long memory. To be able to grasp knowledge firmly, for subjects that require memorization, I often review right after class, usually that same evening. When it comes to exams, I just need to review all the knowledge to be able to confidently do the test.
In terms of specialized subjects, although he had studied very carefully during the years of preparing for the national excellent student team exam, Cong was still very persistent and diligent. During his studies, Cong always linked his lessons to real life situations to be able to grasp the problems firmly. What surprised Cong was that in addition to the subjects that were his "advantages", he achieved a perfect score of 10 points such as General Informatics, English, Nature Research Internship, Genetics and Evolution, there were also subjects where he really "broke through" such as Scientific Socialism 9.9 points, Marxist-Leninist Philosophy 9.1 points...

With all subjects scoring 8.5 or higher, Cong completed the program excellently with an average score of 9.42/10 points and achieved a perfect GPA of 4.0/4.0, a result that has been very rare in the Biology department for the past 20 years.
On his personal page, Ha Huy Cong also shared this result and told the story of a senior sister who was valedictorian with a score of 3.98 and hoped Cong would break through to surpass this score.
This is also the motivation for Cong to try harder in the past 3 years, becoming the valedictorian of the Biology department. Cong also admits that he is a perfectionist, if he doesn't study, then don't study, if he studies, he must study with all his might, so Cong always sets goals for himself and always tries to achieve the best results.
Teacher of "hometown"
During his 3-year journey of studying Pedagogy, in addition to the stress of exam seasons, the hours of diligent practice in laboratories, and participation in student Olympic competitions, Ha Huy Cong's memories are also the times he got to teach with his students. Those were the months of internship at the School of Natural Sciences - University of Pedagogy, and the 3-month internship when he returned to his old school - Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.

During this process, Cong often accompanied his former teachers at Phan School to support the national excellent student team. Talking about this, the new valedictorian of the Biology Pedagogy Department of Hanoi National University of Education said: The first time I stood on the podium and was called teacher, the feeling was hard to describe. Even happier was that when I returned to Phan School, my former teachers welcomed me, created favorable conditions, and the students of the school also supported me when there was a young teacher in class.
Admitting that he is a serious and quite perfectionist person, Ha Huy Cong also said that if he were a teacher, he would probably be a strict teacher. However, besides that, Ha Huy Cong is more concerned with the effectiveness of teaching lessons with many different types of students.
In particular, we must make students who are not specialized students still love Biology and are excited about our lessons: If they are specialized students, they have prepared the lessons and sometimes we simply impart knowledge. However, for other students, Biology is not an attractive subject. Therefore, I try to incorporate practical lessons and change the way of teaching so that students love my subject.

At this time, after graduating with honors, Ha Huy Cong had many opportunities to develop, but Cong persisted with the first application he had written with the wish "to return to serve in Nghe An after graduation" and most recently, to work at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.
In the context of the Education sector undergoing many changes, Ha Huy Cong also determined that the decision to pursue a teaching career will have many difficulties and will certainly require "lifelong learning". The upcoming journey will certainly not be easy because there are many pressures and many goals to aim for. But with love and passion, Ha Huy Cong believes that the path he has chosen is the right one and he will continue to strive to continue the tradition of a "Nghe scholar", an exemplary and respected teacher!
