The organizing committee of Miss Mekong Delta 2024 announced to stop cooperating with Nam Em.
On the evening of February 29, a representative of the Organizing Committee of Miss Mekong Delta 2024 announced that they would stop cooperating with the reigning Miss Mekong Delta - Nguyen Thi Le Nam Em.
"With the criteria of honoring the beauty of personality, intelligence, beauty as well as training the courage and talent of women in the Mekong Delta in particular, and Vietnamese women in general. The Organizing Committee of Miss Mekong Delta 2024 found that the reigning Miss Nguyen Thi Le Nam Em is not suitable for the criteria and image of the contest, so it will not accompany the entire contest process," the Organizing Committee announced.
The organizers said that the contest received negative feedback from many viewers on social media, related to Nam Em’s recent controversial statements. The beauty also refused to participate in Miss Mekong Delta activities.
Previously, Nam Em wanted to auction the crown after being crowned Miss Mekong Delta 2015, with the hope of helping poor children, or displaying it in a more solemn place.
Miss Mekong Delta was first held in 2008, formerly known as Miss Mekong Delta. After the contest changed its name, the Organizing Committee upgraded Nam Em's title from Miss Mekong Delta to Miss Mekong Delta. The contest will restart next March.
Recently, Nam Em has continuously had livestreams, attracting tens of thousands of views each session. In the videos, she has made statements "exposing" showbiz. The beauty did not mention specific names of individuals but only spoke anonymously.
Mr. Huu Cuong - Nam Em's fiancé and manager - defended the beauty and at the same time made a shocking statement. In a livestream, this character affirmed that he and Nam Em would "destroy showbiz". This made the public angry because the above statements were unverified and offensive.
