President Putin: Russia realizes joining the West is pointless
(Baonghean.vn) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian Federation once tried to join the West, but realized that this made no sense.

Speaking at the 2024 World Youth Festival on March 6, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia once tried to join the West, but then Moscow realized that this made no sense because "no one there took into account Russia's interests."
"Until today, everyone tried to join the West, including Russia, which wanted to join the G7 and G8. Then we realized that this was pointless, because no one took our interests into account there. This is an important issue, and this is also the mistake of Russia's Western partners," President Putin said.
Additionally, President Putin said, rich countries do not want to create an open market system for developing economies.
"At the government level, rich countries in the world do not really want to create a system of international economic relations, to open markets to developing economies, to create free conditions for development and growth" - President Putin shared.
At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that in the US and Europe, they believe that prosperity is based on the exploitation of other peoples.
Responding to the question of how to improve relations between Russia and Europe, including relations between Russia and Germany, President Putin said that, for the profound interests of Germany, "sooner or later there will be politicians who want to cooperate, to combine forces between Russia and Germany".
