Immerse yourself in an eco-tour at Quang Binh Botanical Garden
About 12 km from Phong Nha - Ke Bang Tourist Center, the Botanical Garden is a "must-go" destination for tourists when stopping in Quang Binh.
With an area of 41.82 hectares and known as a "miniature version" of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, the Botanical Garden (located on 20 Quyet Thang Street, Bo Trach District) is a great destination for you to explore the primeval forests with diverse flora and fauna and beautiful natural landscapes.
The special feature of the Botanical Garden is that it simultaneously implements two conservation methods that few national parks have: Insitu conservation of the biodiversity value of the natural forest ecosystem while collecting and transplanting plant species from other places, also known as ex-situ conservation.
Coming to the Botanical Garden, you will have a "journey" through the main tourist attractions: Specimen gallery, Vang Anh lake, 30 m high Wind Waterfall, 3 km long road, plant nursery, rare plant area.

Before entering the forest, visitors can visit the exhibition house - which introduces endemic flora and fauna of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, some geomorphological samples, and 4-ray coral specimens. This is also a place to store dry specimens for scientific research and environmental interpretation.
Saying goodbye to the exhibition house with a map of the dozens of hectares of botanical garden, visitors enter the majestic primeval forest on a small stone path. The deeper you go, the lower the temperature, so even in the middle of a hot summer afternoon, the air here is still cool.
To go deep into the forest, visitors must overcome slippery rocks, hidden streams, and dangerous cliffs. Although walking in the forest is challenging, this journey is worth it because you can immerse yourself in the silence of the old forests, immerse yourself in the fresh, cool air of nature. In particular, visitors will be "overwhelmed" by the rich flora with nearly 500 species, including 133 rare species. Some of the precious trees have a circumference of up to 300 cm such as mahogany trees, especially the hundred-year-old Vietnamese star tree.

It only takes 15 minutes to walk, the small path through the old forest leads visitors to Thac Gio - a waterfall originating from Vang Anh stream, pouring water from a height of about 30 m and hiding under the canopy of the lush primeval forest. Stopping at the first wooden step, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Phong Nha - Ke Bang; admire the soft water like silk hanging down the steep rocks. Continuing along the precarious wooden steps on the cliff, you approach the foot of Thac Gio and touch the cool water flowing down from the mountain.
Starting from the end of Thac Gio, the stream gradually narrows and deepens, creating a challenge for the conqueror. To go deeper into the forest, visitors must swing along a large rope running along the stream. This is a memorable experience for adventure lovers. Slippery rocks, deep streams, steep cliffs… stimulate the vision, push all emotions to a new height, making the journey to discover the “miniature version” of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park more interesting.

Lying quietly under the shade of the primeval forest, surrounded by cool green trees, Vang Anh Lake is a great place for you to stop and relax, camp, admire orchids and listen to the chirping of birds. In the beautiful natural setting, visitors can freely check-in and capture impressive moments on the journey to conquer the Botanical Garden. In addition, you can soak and swim in the cool water after a long hike.
After Vang Anh Lake, visitors can continue their journey to explore the forest, watch the hornbills, and enjoy the dances of peacocks - one of the 10 most beautiful birds on the planet.
At the Botanical Garden, the nursery has successfully propagated many rare plants such as the tung tree, the yellow orchid tree, etc. This area is not only an interesting tourist destination, but also a research destination for many scientists.

With a total length of about 4 km, the Botanical Garden is an attractive destination for tourists who love eco-tourism. To experience the best journey in the wonderful weather, you should visit from December to February of the following year. Exploring the Botanical Garden will be more comfortable if you prepare the necessary items including: Waterproof shoes with good grip or sandals; soft and breathable clothes suitable for hiking/trekking; swimwear; towels; water and snacks; insect repellent.
