According to Diario Sport, Barca plans to sign 'superstar' Erling Haaland in 2026.
This source indicates that this is the time when President Joan Laporta's term is coming to an end, and the head of Barca wants to bring in a top-class 'blockbuster' signing like Haaland in order to win the election again.
2026 is also the year when the renovations and upgrades to the new Nou Camp will be completed, so a major contract being signed there would be very significant.
Diario Sport further reports that, in a recent meeting with Haaland's agent, Sporting Director Deco revealed that Barca would only be able to sign the Norwegian striker in two years' time, when the club's financial situation improves.
Haaland's current contract with Man City runs until 2027. However, sources indicate that the Premier League champions are accelerating their efforts to persuade Haaland to sign a new deal.
But it was also added that Haaland's side would certainly include a release clause in the contract, as the striker's ultimate goal remains to play in La Liga one day, for Real Madrid or Barcelona.
