When a car's gearbox is damaged, the car owner can spend from several tens to hundreds of millions of dong to repair or replace it.
Through actual surveys, it can be seen that the cost of replacing and repairing car gearboxes on most car models in Vietnam is quite high, exceeding 100 million VND.
Mr. Tran Van Chung, Director of Tran Chung Garage (Dich Vong Hau, Cau Giay, Hanoi) also commented: "The gearbox is a very difficult part to repair, this is the main engine of the car so the price is very high.".
According to Mr. Chung, the structure of the CVT gearbox includes a transmission belt, an input pulley and an output pulley. This leads to belt slippage if the driver accelerates suddenly. Over time, if this situation occurs frequently, the belt can break.
In addition, if the car owner does not change the oil regularly (about 40,000 - 80,000 km) or maintain the belt regularly (80,000 - 120,000 km), it can also lead to belt breakage and damage to the entire gearbox.
Letting the gearbox oil dry out, replacing it with poor quality oil or fake engine oil can also cause the gearbox to fail quickly.
However, Mr. Chung also said that it is not difficult to fix the above situation without having to spend money to repair the gearbox.
“Car owners need to change the gearbox oil properly, regularly maintain the car according to the manufacturer's recommendations, and take good care of the car so that the gearbox belt will not break and they will not have to spend hundreds of millions of dong repairing or replacing the gearbox.”Mr. Chung said.
Another reason that Mr. Chung mentioned is that long-term use of the vehicle can also lead to the gearbox being worn out and damaged. Or frequent overloading causes the gearbox gears to pull heavy loads, causing wear and tear, flattening, also causing the gearbox to break down quickly.
"Therefore, in addition to changing the oil regularly and choosing a quality oil filter, drivers should not overload the vehicle regularly according to the manufacturer's regulations. This will limit damage to the gearbox."Mr. Chung advised.
