(Baonghean.vn) - The Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Province Police has just presided over and coordinated with relevant units to successfully crack down on a case, eliminating a gang that stole more than 2 tons of dogs, carried out by subjects with many criminal records, and initially arrested 3 subjects.

Recently, through understanding the local situation, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Police discovered a group of subjects specializing in property theft (dog theft), carried out by subjects residing in Hung Nguyen district in collusion with subjects residing in Nghi Loc district.

The above group of subjects committed dog theft in many districts such as: Hung Nguyen, Nam Dan, Thanh Chuong, Nghi Loc and Vinh city. During the process of committing the act, the subjects joined together into a group, had specific assignments, prepared tools and means, committed the crime and were ready to use homemade guns and crossbows to fight back against the authorities and people when discovered in order to escape.

The actions of these subjects have caused outrage among the people, affecting the security and order situation in the area. In response to the above situation, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Police reported to the Provincial Police leadership and coordinated with relevant units to establish a special investigation.

During the verification process, the police identified Nguyen Van Dieu (born in 1978), residing in Hung Tay commune, Hung Nguyen district, as the mastermind and leader of the dog-stealing gang. It is worth mentioning that in order to run the gang, Dieu "recruited" "influential juniors" with many criminal records. In addition to providing food and accommodation, Dieu also provided tools (electric shock, snake carcasses, tape, etc.), and motorbikes with fake license plates for the above subjects to "practice their profession". Dogs stolen from people's houses would be purchased by Dieu and then sold.

After applying synchronous professional measures, on April 11, under the direction of the Provincial Police leaders, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Police presided over and coordinated with Nghi Loc District Police and the Provincial Police's professional department to successfully crack a case, arresting 3 subjects for property theft (dog theft).

The evidence collected and temporarily detained in the case includes: 9 dogs with a total weight of 156 kg, 1 motorbike, 1 homemade electric gun, 1 slingshot, 5 bags of snake carcasses and many related evidences. At the Investigation Agency, the subjects initially confessed that from December 2023 to now, they have committed more than 50 cases of dog theft and consumption in the districts of Hung Nguyen, Nam Dan, Vinh city, Nghi Loc, with a total weight of stolen dogs of more than 2 tons.
