Prosecution initiated against individual for fraud and misappropriation of property through "case fixing" scheme.
(Baonghean.vn) - The Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police has just issued a decision to initiate a criminal case of "Fraudulent appropriation of property" and prosecute Tran Thi Thuy (born in 1980), residing in Ward 9, Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City; temporarily residing in Hung Trung Commune, Hung Nguyen District, Nghe An Province.
Through local area management, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police recently discovered a group of suspects exhibiting suspicious behavior related to "fraudulent appropriation of property" using the tactic of accepting money to "arrange bail" or "fix court cases" in Nghe An province, masterminded by Tran Thi Thuy.
Despite lacking qualifications and a stable job, Tran Thi Thuy misled victims into believing she was a lawyer in order to defraud them of their money. In Nghe An, Thuy sought to partner with several law firms, posing as "Communications Director, Deputy Branch Manager" to promote the image of the law offices, but in reality, she exploited this title to commit fraud.
Thuy informed the victims that she had connections with leaders and officials in state agencies, promising to secure bail, suspended sentences, reduced prison sentences, or even just administrative penalties for the defendants, thereby defrauding them of their assets. To gain the victims' trust, Thuy also frequently posted pictures of herself participating in charitable activities on social media, attending court hearings, and other events.
Recognizing that the incident involved serious criminal activity, was complex in nature, created negative public opinion, and affected the reputation of judicial agencies in the area, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police reported to the provincial police leadership to establish a special case to mobilize forces and resources, and apply a comprehensive range of professional measures to combat and dismantle the aforementioned fraud ring.
After a period of surveillance, on April 2nd, the Criminal Police Department successfully cracked the case, arresting Tran Thi Thuy for the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property". At the police station, the suspect confessed to the crime.
Initially, the police determined that from October 2023 to January 2024, Thuy and several other individuals defrauded eight victims in Vinh City and Nghi Loc District, appropriating over 2 billion VND.
Currently, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police is continuing to expand the investigation into the case, clarifying the fraudulent activities of the suspect related to the field of labor export.
The Nghe An Provincial Police are announcing that anyone who is a victim of Tran Thi Thuy and has not yet contacted the police should quickly report to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Nghe An Provincial Police for coordination and resolution.
