On the evening of April 17, U23 Vietnam had their opening match in Group D of the 2024 AFC U23 Championship. Despite winning 3-1 against U23 Kuwait, coach Hoang Anh Tuan said there was still much work to be done after this match.
Sharing after the match, coach Hoang Anh Tuan said: I am only satisfied with the result. In the first half, the players were mentally exhausted so they could not show their best performance and made the match difficult. The opponent is nothing special. The problem is that U23 Vietnam did not play as well as they should.
In the second half, when the tension passed, the players played more proactively, closer to their true potential. That was also the time when we took risks with substitutions. Bui Vi Hao had the quality to handle finishing moves well and finally scored 2 goals.
When asked about the changes of U23 Vietnam compared to the time of coach Philippe Troussier, Mr. Tuan said: Today's victory is the difference between the two teams.
