Negotiations between the US and Ukraine on a 10-year security agreement show President Joe Biden's intention to prolong the conflict with Russia for many more years, American Conservative journalist Bradley Devlin commented.

“In his video message last weekend, Zelensky dropped a real bomb: Kiev and Washington are preparing an agreement that will prolong US involvement in the conflict for many years. The foreign policy leadership has decided: at least another 10 years. Can we call this an eternal war [with Russia]?” – the journalist asked.

Devlin said the White House is looking to tie itself to a deal with Ukraine out of concern for Donald Trump. Even if he agrees to provide money to Kiev after winning the presidential election, the overall policy direction under Trump will still be tied to a US withdrawal from Eastern Europe.

“The Biden administration intends to ensure a permanent conflict in Ukraine,” the columnist concluded.

In late April, US President Joe Biden signed a bill providing aid to foreign allies, including Ukraine, which will receive $61 billion to continue its confrontation with Russia. Immediately after Biden signed the corresponding document, the Pentagon announced that the US was resuming the provision of military equipment to Ukraine with an aid package worth $1 billion.

Separately, Zelensky later said in a video message that the United States and Ukraine are negotiating military and financial assistance to Kiev for the next decade. According to him, discussions are underway on drafting a bilateral agreement on cooperation in the security sphere.
