(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 24, at the Nghi Loc District Martyrs' Cemetery, Nghe An Province, a solemn memorial service and burial ceremony was held for the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in the Lao People's Democratic Republic and were gathered during the 2023-2024 dry season.

Attending the ceremony were: Colonel Hoang Tuan Hien - Deputy Director of the Policy Department (General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army), Deputy Chief of Office of the National Steering Committee 515; Lieutenant General Tran Vo Dung - Party Secretary, Political Commissar of Military Region 4; Colonel Doan Xuan Buong - Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 4 - Head of the Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 4.

The delegation of the provinces of the Lao People's Democratic Republic includes: Lieutenant General Vong Son-In Pan Phim - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Special Working Committee of Xay Som Bun province; Major General Bun Phong But Tha Vong - Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, Deputy Head of the Special Working Committee of Vientiane province; Si Vi Lay Seng Cha Lon - Deputy Governor, Head of the Special Working Committee of Xieng Khouang province.

Regarding Nghe An province, there were comrades: Nguyen Van Thong - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Nam Dinh - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of Steering Committee 515 of Nghe An province.

Also attending were leaders of the Provincial Military Command, Provincial Police, Provincial Border Guard Command and departments, branches and sectors of Nghe An province; Party Committees, authorities, Fatherland Front, unions and a large number of cadres and people of Nghi Loc district.

The search and collection of martyrs' remains is a major policy of our Party and State, demonstrating the Vietnamese people's traditional morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" and the sacred and profound affection for comrades and teammates who heroically sacrificed for the cause of national liberation, protecting the Fatherland and fulfilling noble international duties.

With that meaning, in recent years, with the close attention and direction of the Special Working Group 2 of the Vietnam - Laos Government, the Party Committee - Command and Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 4, the Special Working Group of 4 provinces: Nghe An, Xieng Khouang, Vientiane, Xay Som Bun has thoroughly grasped and effectively implemented the work of searching for and collecting the remains of martyrs who died in Laos.

In particular, in the 2023-2024 dry season, the Collection Team, Nghe An Provincial Military Command proactively overcame all difficulties, closely coordinated with all levels, sectors, localities and Lao ethnic people to search and collect 87 remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives for the noble international duty in Laos and returned them to their homeland.

At the ceremony, comrade Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of Steering Committee 515 of Nghe An province read the eulogy in memory of the martyrs of the Volunteer Army and Vietnamese Experts - the outstanding sons of the nation, who fought bravely and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for the noble international duty in the brotherly country of Laos, now returning to their beloved Motherland.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long expressed his deep gratitude to the relatives of the martyrs; families of wounded and sick soldiers, and those who have rendered great service to the country. At the same time, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also expressed his deep gratitude to the Party, Government and people of the Lao ethnic groups in general, and the three provinces of Xieng Khouang, Vientiane and Xay Som Bun in particular, for taking care of and protecting the Vietnamese Volunteer Soldiers and Experts as if they were their own children. When they fell, the Lao ethnic people took care of their graves, burned incense, worshiped them and organized visits.

In the solemn atmosphere of the ceremony, the delegates respectfully bowed and offered fresh flowers and incense to the souls of the heroic martyrs to express their infinite gratitude.

Together, we pledge to continue to promote the traditions of the Nation, of the heroic Soviet homeland, strive to study and follow the example and morality of Ho Chi Minh and the brave fighting spirit of the heroic martyrs, promote internal strength, exploit external strength, strive to successfully achieve socio-economic, defense and security goals according to the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, Resolution No. 39-NQ/TW dated July 18, 2023 of the Politburo on building and developing Nghe An province to 2030, with a vision to 2045 and the Resolution of the 19th Nghe An Provincial Party Congress, building Nghe An province to become increasingly prosperous.

At the ceremony, delegates and a large number of officials and people of Nghe An province saw off 87 martyrs of the Vietnamese Volunteer Army and Experts who sacrificed their lives in the Lao People's Democratic Republic and were gathered during the 2023-2024 dry season to their final resting place./.
