Completed the 4th stage of the 'Return to Dien Bien Phu 2024' cycling race
On May 4, at 7/5 Square, Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien province, the award ceremony of stage 4 of the "Return to Dien Bien Phu - 2024, People's Army Newspaper Cup" bicycle race from Son La city to Dien Bien Phu city with a length of 155km took place.
According to the Organizing Committee, stage 4 with the theme “Advancing to Muong Thanh” has a decisive meaning for the final awards: Yellow jersey (best racer), red polka dot jersey (king of the mountain) and white jersey (best racer under 23 years old).

With a length of 155km, the athletes started off by parading around Son La city and officially started in front of Tay Bac Square, going up to Dien Bien in the direction of National Highway 6. The athletes arrived at Thuan Chau town, Thuan Chau district, Son La province before conquering one of the four legendary Pha Din pass peaks.
After going down Pha Din Pass, the athletes entered Tuan Giao Town, Tuan Giao District and turned left, following National Highway 6 towards Dien Bien Phu City. Arriving at Muong Ang Town, Muong Ang District, the athletes continued to conquer the second pass in Dien Bien, Tang Quai Pass. After climbing to the top of Tang Quai Pass, the race track became gentler, and the athletes could accelerate to reach the finish line at 7/5 Square, Dien Bien Phu City.
At 11:20 a.m. on May 4, the athletes in the final group successfully crossed the finish line at 7/5 Square. At the end of stage 3, racer Pham Le Xuan Loc, from the Army team, excellently won the red polka dot jersey, white jersey and yellow jersey. Racer Nguyen Minh Thien, from team 620 Chau Thoi - Vinh Long won the green jersey of the stage. In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded prizes along the way; awarded prizes to the 5 best athletes of the 4th stage.
The 2024 Dien Bien Phu Bicycle Race is jointly organized by the People's Army Newspaper and the Vietnam Sports Cycling Federation on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024) with many activities meaningful in educating revolutionary traditions and paying tribute to heroes and martyrs.
Along with sports activities, the Organizing Committee also has many meaningful activities. Accordingly, the Organizing Committee will present 12 gratitude houses, 1 school worth about 6.5 billion VND in Dien Bien, 30 sanitation facilities to schools in Hoa Binh, Son La, Lai Chau provinces; present 20 gifts to policy beneficiaries in Hanoi, Hoa Binh, Son La; 200 gifts to policy families in Dien Bien Phu city and 127 gifts to veterans, youth volunteers, and frontline laborers participating in the Dien Bien Phu campaign. The total estimated cost for the above activities is about 9.5 billion VND.
