(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of May 7, the Special Working Group of Nghe An province held a conference to assign tasks and coordinate the organization of memorial services and burial of the remains of martyrs, volunteer soldiers and Vietnamese experts who died in Laos in the 2023-2024 dry season.

Comrade Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Special Working Committee chaired the conference. From 1984 to present, the Collection Team, Nghe An Provincial Military Command has searched for and collected 13,099 martyrs (in Nghe An province, there are 471 martyrs' remains; in the Lao People's Democratic Republic, there are 12,628 martyrs' remains).

In the dry season of 2023 - 2024, up to now (May 7, 2024), the Collection Team of the Nghe An Provincial Military Command has surveyed, searched, and collected 82 remains of martyrs, volunteer soldiers, and Vietnamese experts who died in the three provinces of Xieng Khouang, Vientiane, and Xay Som Bun, Lao People's Democratic Republic.

With the highest determination, day and night eating in huts and sleeping in the forest to search for, collect and repatriate the remains of heroic martyrs to the Fatherland, the officers and staff of the Collection Team of the Nghe An Provincial Military Command are making efforts to search for and collect more martyrs' remains to return to the motherland of Vietnam.

To organize the repatriation and hold the memorial service and burial of the remains of martyrs, volunteer soldiers and Vietnamese experts who died in Laos, scheduled for May 24, 2024 at the Nghi Loc District Martyrs' Cemetery, the Provincial Military Command has directed agencies and units to coordinate with provincial departments, branches, sectors and agencies, organizations and local authorities to carry out preparations.

In which, the Provincial People's Committee was advised to issue a plan to receive, move and bury the remains of martyrs, volunteer soldiers and Vietnamese experts who died in Laos; Hold talks to evaluate the results of the task of searching and collecting the remains of martyrs, volunteer soldiers and Vietnamese experts who died in the three provinces of Xieng Khouang, Vientiane and Xay Som Bun, Lao People's Democratic Republic in the dry season of 2023 - 2024; Deploy the task of searching and collecting the remains of martyrs in the dry season of 2024 - 2025.

Coordinate with the Department of Foreign Affairs, advise the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, and the Provincial People's Committee to issue a decision to send a delegation of officials from the Provincial Special Working Group to Laos to receive, hand over, and move the remains of martyrs to Nghi Loc District Martyrs' Cemetery to organize a memorial service and burial ceremony. Coordinate with 3 provinces of Laos to agree on the content, program, time, and location of the reception of martyrs' remains. Conduct an inspection and survey of the burial location of remains at Nghi Loc District Martyrs' Cemetery. Direct the Collection Team to coordinate with local authorities of Lao provinces to prepare for the Talks on receiving, handing over, and moving the remains of martyrs back to the country.

In order for the reception and burial of martyrs' remains to take place as planned, at the conference, Comrade Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Special Working Committee requested agencies and units to continue to do a good job of preparation; Coordinate and cooperate with Lao provinces to do a good job of preparation for the Conference on reception, handover, talks and mobilization of martyrs' remains and experts to Vietnam to organize burials as planned. Do a good job of preparation for the Nghe An Provincial Special Working Committee to go to Laos.

Continue to complete the preparations for the conference between the Nghe An Provincial Special Working Group and the Special Working Groups of the three provinces of Xieng Khouang, Vientiane, and Xay Som Bun in Xieng Khouang province. Assign the Provincial Military Command and the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to coordinate, cooperate, and prepare well the handover and biological sample collection contents.

Strengthen propaganda work, arrange forces to welcome and see off the martyrs' remains. Prepare well so that the memorial service and burial of martyrs' remains, scheduled for May 24, 2024 at Nghi Loc District Martyrs' Cemetery, will take place solemnly and thoughtfully./.
