Prosecuted 23 defendants in the smuggling ring of more than 200 million liters of gasoline
Regarding the 200 million liter gasoline smuggling ring busted by Dong Nai Provincial Police in September 2020, the Investigation Police Agency has continued to prosecute 23 defendants for smuggling.
The above decisions have been approved by the People's Procuracy at the same level.

The Investigation Police Agency of Dong Nai Province Police coordinated with the People's Procuracy of the same level and professional units to execute decisions to prosecute suspects, apply measures to arrest suspects for temporary detention, and prohibit suspects from leaving their place of residence.
At the same time, the organization executed search warrants on the residences and workplaces of 6 defendants in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and Long An. Thereby, many exhibits and documents related to the case were seized.

Previously, on March 17, the Investigation Police Agency of Dong Nai Province Police issued a decision to prosecute the criminal case of "smuggling" occurring in Dong Nai Province and several other provinces and cities to investigate and clarify the behavior of subjects with signs of crime that have not been handled in phase 1.
This is a case that the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Negativity has put under monitoring and direction, and has received public attention.
Currently, Dong Nai Provincial Police are continuing to expand the investigation of the case, consolidating records, documents, and evidence related to the criminal acts of organizations and individuals to strictly handle them according to the provisions of law.
Dong Nai Provincial Police call on criminals involved in the above smuggling ring to surrender to the Economic Police Department of Dong Nai Provincial Police as soon as possible to enjoy leniency under the law.
At the end of the first phase of the investigation of Project 920G, 74 defendants were brought to trial and received various sentences. Among them, the ringleaders Dao Ngoc Vien was sentenced to 15 years in prison; Phan Thanh Huu was sentenced to 13 years and 6 months in prison for smuggling; Ngo Van Thuy, former Head of the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department, General Department of Customs, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for bribery.
