Group of reporters and collaborators arrested for extorting corporate property

Da Nang police have just arrested a group of reporters and collaborators for extorting corporate property.

On April 26, Hoa Vang District Police (Da Nang) detained two reporters and one resident collaborator in Da Nang to investigate the act of "extortion of property".

These people include VBD (35 years old), residing in Hoa Khuong commune, Hoa Vang district; T.D.T (35 years old), residing in Hoa Minh ward, Lien Chieu district and HTPH (43 years old), residing in Hoa Minh ward, Lien Chieu district.

Accordingly, through the work of grasping the situation, the Criminal Police Team of Hoa Vang District Police discovered that a number of subjects claiming to be journalists, reporters, and collaborators contacted a business owner located in the area to threaten and threaten to publish articles related to violations in the business activities of this business with the aim of extorting property.

Verifying the information, the police determined that around April 2024, this group of reporters and collaborators, while working, discovered a business with violations in transporting soil and sand at projects under construction in the area.

Afterwards, the subjects discussed, reached an agreement and repeatedly called to threaten and force the business owner to give money or else he would write articles about the violations. In response to the above threat, the business owner agreed to give the subjects 100 million VND; in addition, he had to sign a propaganda contract worth 20 million VND for each subject.

In addition to detaining the suspects, the police also seized evidence including 180 million VND, 1 car, 1 motorbike, 5 mobile phones and related documents.

Hoa Vang District Police are continuing to consolidate files and documents, expanding the investigation to clarify the case.
