Delegation of National Assembly of Nghe An province collects comments on draft revised Trade Union Law

(Baonghean.vn) - Based on reality, the delegates proposed 18 practical comments to the Provincial National Assembly Delegation to complete the draft revised Trade Union Law.

On the morning of May 14, the Provincial National Assembly Delegation held a conference to collect comments on the draft Law on Trade Unions (amended).

Attending the conference were representatives of the Standing Committee of the People's Council, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province, leaders of the Provincial People's Council Committees; Office of the Youth Union.Member of National Assemblyand the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee Office; relevant departments, branches, sectors and units.

Ms. Thai Thi An Chung - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province and Mr. Tran Nhat Minh - Member of the National Assembly's Law Committee, full-time delegate of the National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province co-chaired the conference.

Trade Union Law No. 12/2012/QH13 was passed by the 13th National Assembly on June 20, 2012 and took effect from January 1, 2013 (hereinafter referred to as the Trade Union Law).

The 2012 Trade Union Law is an important legal basis for the organization and operation of trade unions in the period of accelerating industrialization, modernization of the country and international integration, contributing to maintaining political and social stability, promoting economic development, building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations, helping Vietnam Trade Unions develop continuously in recent years. However, after more than 10 years of implementation, there have been requirements requiring the Trade Union Law to be further improved.

The proposed revised Trade Union Law aims to overcome some limitations and shortcomings of the Trade Union Law, meet the activities of Trade Union organizations in the new period, in accordance with the institutionalization of the 2013 Constitution, the Party's policies and resolutions, the unity of the legal system and the situation of international integration.

The conference recorded 18 comments on the draft revised Trade Union Law. One of the important contents that received the attention of the delegates was the right to establish, join and operate trade unions. Accordingly, most delegates highly agreed with allowingworkerForeign citizens working in labor-using units in Vietnam, working under labor contracts with a term of 12 months or more, have the right to join the Vietnam Trade Union and participate in trade union activities at the grassroots trade union.

Union finance is also a topic that receives much attention. Many dedicated opinions are recorded to increase the efficiency of management and use of union finance.

In addition, delegates also made recommendations and comments on issues related to the rights and roles of trade unions in inspecting, supervising, and resolving issues related to workers; Arranging full-time trade union officials; Responsibility allowances for trade union officials; Developing union members, etc.

Appreciating the quality of the conference and thanking the delegates for their thoughtful comments, Mr. Tran Nhat Minh affirmed that he would study the delegates’ comments. At the same time, the representative of the National Assembly delegation hoped that the delegates would continue to accompany the delegation in the process of building the Trade Union Law (amended)./.
