(Baonghean.vn) - During the April 30 - May 1 holiday, medical facilities in the province have assigned permanent staff, arranged adequate medicine, chemicals and consumables... to be ready to serve patients.

Ensure all patients are examined and treated

On average, Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital receives about 1,000 - 1,200 patients for examination and treatment every day. During the April 30 - May 1 holiday this year (lasting 5 days), the number of patients is expected to decrease significantly compared to normal days. However, the nature of the holiday does not mean that medical examination and treatment here is lax. On the contrary, professional activities are enhanced, requiring discipline and responsibility.

Doctor Tran Van Cuong - Deputy Director of the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital said: During the April 30 - May 1 holiday, the hospital has organized full duty at 4 levels (leadership duty, professional duty, administrative duty and security duty); requested the leaders of departments/offices/centers to arrange reasonable holidays, assign staff to be on duty 24/24 hours to handle work, serve patients well, ensure all patients are examined and treated, and not refuse or delay emergency cases... For patients who are not in the same line or specialty, it is necessary to provide initial emergency treatment to stabilize before transferring to another medical facility.

Departments/offices/centers develop plans to ensure a good 24/7 emergency system; develop plans to deal with epidemics, poisonings, accidents, and mass emergencies that may occur during the holidays; organize well emergency care, medical examination and treatment, reserve medicine, blood, infusion fluids and necessary equipment; arrange additional backup teams, ready to perform tasks when mobilized; be ready and promptly respond in case of emergency response to mass accidents and serious traffic accidents.

"Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital also requires leaders to ensure that the hotline is always available; officials, civil servants, and workers raise their sense of personal and collective responsibility and absolutely not be subjective and negligent. In addition, the hospital has requested companies providing cleaning and security services at the hospital to thoroughly promote a sense of responsibility and awareness of serving patients; ensure good professional work during this holiday," Dr. Tran Van Cuong stated.

Pay attention to prevent heat-related illnesses during the holidays

According to forecasts, during the April 30 - May 1 holiday, all regions across the country will experience hot weather, with many places in the Central region experiencing particularly severe temperatures, exceeding 40-41 degrees Celsius. When the heat is severe and prolonged, people are susceptible to health problems such as heatstroke, heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

People at high risk of heat-related health problems include the elderly, children, pregnant women, people who work and exercise at high intensity outdoors, and people with chronic diseases. Common health problems caused by heat depend on the duration of exposure to heat and the degree of body temperature increase. Severe cases can lead to death.

During this holiday, many people will travel and relax. Everyone needs to pay attention to the health risks caused by the heat. It is necessary to limit going out in the sun, especially between 10am and 4pm. People who are in a room with low air conditioning should not go out in the sun suddenly, but need some time for the body to adapt to the outside environment. Actively drink plenty of water, however, do not drink too much ice water or water that is too cold, which can easily cause sore throat... When there is a health problem, it is necessary to immediately call 115 or quickly take the victim to the nearest medical facility.

For children, when traveling, parents should not take their eyes off their children; pay attention to preventing drowning and preventing diseases for children. Doctor Bui Anh Son - Head of the Respiratory Department, Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital recommends: "During the holidays, children's eating habits and daily routines are often suddenly disrupted, easily leading to diseases of the digestive tract. Parents need to give their children cooked food and boiled water; ensure food hygiene and safety; increase nutrition, eat more fruit to ensure enough vitamins, increase the body's resistance... Increase personal hygiene, wash hands regularly with soap, especially before preparing food, before eating, after going to the toilet; clean nose and throat daily with salt water.

When the baby's body shows unusual symptoms such as cough, fever, etc., parents should follow the rules to prevent infection and take the baby to a medical facility for timely examination and treatment"./.
