Mr. Tran Thanh Man has been nominated to be elected as Chairman of the National Assembly.
The Central Committee unanimously agreed to nominate two Politburo members: Minister of Public Security To Lam for the National Assembly to elect as President; and Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man for election as Chairman of the National Assembly.

Immediately after the closing of the 9th Central Committee Conference, at the Party Central Office, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong held a working session with key leaders.
Also attending the session were Politburo member and Standing Committee Secretary Luong Cuong; and Politburo member, Head of the Central Organization Department, and Chief of the Central Party Office Le Minh Hung.
Key leaders met to hear an assessment of the country's work over the past period and to focus on providing guidance for implementing future tasks in accordance with the conclusions of the 9th Central Committee Conference.
This is the first key leadership meeting after the 9th Central Committee Conference approved several important contents and nominated personnel for the 15th National Assembly to elect the positions of President and Speaker of the National Assembly.
At the meeting, the General Secretary congratulated the Central Committee on its unanimous nomination of Mr. To Lam, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, to be elected President of the Republic by the 15th National Assembly; and Mr. Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member and Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, to be elected Chairman of the National Assembly by the 15th National Assembly.
Mr. Tran Thanh Man was born in 1962 in Chau Thanh district, Hau Giang province; he holds a PhD in Economics.
He was a member of the Central Committee of the Party in the 10th (alternate), 11th, 12th, and 13th terms; Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party in the 12th term; member of the Politburo in the 13th term; and a delegate to the National Assembly in the 13th, 14th, and 15th terms.
Mr. Tran Thanh Man has many years of experience working with the Youth Union in Hau Giang and Can Tho provinces. From July 1994, Mr. Tran Thanh Man served as Chief of Office, then as Vice Chairman and Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City.
Mr. Tran Thanh Man served as Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee for over four years before assuming the positions of Vice Chairman and then Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
In April 2021, Mr. Tran Thanh Man was elected Vice Chairman of the National Assembly by the 14th National Assembly.
In July 2021, he was elected Vice Chairman of the National Assembly by the 15th National Assembly and was subsequently assigned to serve as Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, a position he holds to this day.
On May 2nd, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly assigned Mr. Tran Thanh Man to oversee the activities of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly and the National Assembly until the position of Chairman of the 15th National Assembly is filled according to regulations.
