Promoting comprehensive development of ethnic minority areas in Quy Chau district
(Baonghean.vn) - The thematic supervision delegation of the Ethnic Committee of the Provincial People's Council, led by Comrade Lo Thi Kim Ngan - Head of the Ethnic Committee, Provincial People's Council, supervised the implementation of a number of targets associated with the goal of sustainable development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas of Quy Chau district.
Quy Chau is a mountainous district with about 80% of the population being ethnic minorities.
In recent years, ethnic minority and mountainous areas in Quy Chau district have received a lot of investment in resources to develop socio-economy, infrastructure, reduce poverty and develop human resources in a synchronous manner.
National target programs, along with many other programs, projects and policies, continue to be implemented quite drastically by all levels and sectors and achieve positive results.
The locality has issued Project No. 08-DA/HU dated December 30, 2020 of the District Party Committee on sustainable poverty reduction in Quy Chau district for the period 2020 - 2025 and plans and documents for implementation with the goal of sustainable poverty reduction.
Poverty reduction policies have been fully implemented and reached the people, contributing to promoting production development and increasing people's income.
The poverty rate of Quy Chau district in 2023 is 32.37% (down 9.67% compared to 2021).
Average income per capita increased from 28.2 million VND/year (2020) to 34.2 million VND/year (2023).
Health care and protection for ethnic minorities in the district have been significantly improved, medical services are increasingly improved to meet the needs of care, examination and treatment in the current period.
The quality of education continues to be maintained and developed. The quality of universal standards at all levels of education has been improved. To date, 33/36 schools have met national standards, accounting for 91.7%.
The work of preserving and developing the values and fine traditional cultural identities of ethnic minorities in Quy Chau is maintained and promoted. The political system of ethnic minority areas is regularly strengthened, consolidated and built firmly.
At the meeting, Comrade Lo Thi Kim Ngan - Head of the Ethnic Minorities Committee of the Provincial People's Council and members of the monitoring delegation requested further analysis of subjective and objective causes of existing problems and limitations related to poverty reduction; health care and medical services for people; investment in building infrastructure systems; development and improvement of human resource quality...
The leaders of the District People's Committee and grassroots communes received and explained the issues raised by the Supervisory Delegation. From there, they agreed on solutions to implement the set targets in the coming time.
Concluding the meeting, Comrade Lo Thi Kim Ngan acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements that Quy Chau district has achieved in the past time. She requested that the locality continue to have solutions to overcome the limitations mentioned in the monitoring session.
At the same time, study the practicality in the process of implementing the system of indicators on socio-economic development for ethnic minority and mountainous areas. From there, develop a reasonable implementation plan and make appropriate adjustments to the actual conditions of each local unit. In particular, pay attention to the goal of sustainable poverty reduction.
In addition to rationally using the State's resources to support basic construction investment, local authorities need to maximize the internal strength of the people. Create a combined strength to gradually improve the physical facilities, synchronously develop the infrastructure system, cultural, educational and medical institutions in a synchronous manner.
Regularly inspect and urge construction units to speed up the construction progress of basic construction investment projects, ensuring progress and quality; enhance responsibility in basic construction management, closely monitor the progress and quality of projects and works, quickly disburse construction capital, and strive to complete the set plan.
